Hi, is it possible to feature a post from within composer?

For example, I have a featured slider on my home page, this shows featured blogs in the 'News' category. When I create a post in composer I have to save and close, then click edit > feature post. Seems like an unnecessary extra step?

Thanks
You mean your site blogger can able to feature the post from frontend but they need to do it another extra step edit > feature post, if that is the case, we do not have any alternative solution to set feature post from the composer at this point of time.

Hey there,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a public holiday for us here.

Unfortunately that was not possible to achieve this in composer page, but I would suggest you create new blog post from backend, so you can able to select all and assign to feature post from backend blog listing page.

Thanks for clarifying.

My issue is that I don't want to give blog publishers access to the back-enf of the website, but I do want them do have the ability to feature posts.

Have you any suggestions?

Thanks

Thanks for the input on this Johnny, but to be honest I don't think it is a good idea to allow authors to feature posts on the site. This should be done by moderators or admins.

Hi Mark, thanks for your input too.

I respect your opinion, however If they are allowed to post blogs on the site I don't see the difference in allowing them to feature a post, other than the fact it's more prominent on the site - what's the difference? Why should it only be done by moderators or admin?

Actually it really depend on the site owner, if the site owner don't care anything and allow registered user to publish or feature any blog post he want from his website, then your point should be accepted.

But most of the cases, if the site owner allow to do that, it might be causing a lot of spammer come to his site and publish or feature any spam post from his website, because most of the spammer will target this kind of website which do not have any restriction for this, so they can easier to share some advertisement on their blog post then feature it, once those spammer post featured, so it will show on the blog listing page showcase area, if those spammer blog post contain some of the indecent photo or content, it will affect with his website image.

So it will be better make it only allow site owner or moderator can able to do this feature post action.

By the way, if you really want this feature, I would suggest you start a new thread on our forum then select " Easyblog - feature request" category, so we will see if a lot of user request this, we will consider to add this in the future.
