Hi folks,
I have noticed that just recently users who register with Facebook have their email address showing as their username.......this is BAD!!!!! I obviously don't want my users getting spammed as a result of displaying their email address as their profile name. This is new, it wasn't this way before.

Have I changed something in setup that I am not aware of? How do I revert to registrations showing their FB username instead of their email address?
Hi,

Facebook no longer allows API calls to retrieve username unfortunately. Hence the current fallback is to use email address because most of our customers wants their user to use email address as their username.

If you do not want Username (Email for your case) to be displayed, you can set the Display Name format to Name instead of Username in EasySocial settings.

Thanks Jason,

OK I understand but still not ideal for all of the users who have already registered and expect to login with and see only their username displayed on the site.

Is there a way for me to modify a file to change the FB username field to use name instead of email address?

Just for interest, changing the setting didn't alter the existing usernames. I guess it will affect new registrations though.

Hi,

Yeah unfortunately this settings only applies to new registration because you wouldn't know when to re-pull data to replace existing data.
