Hi

I reported before that facebook sharing was showing code, it went away by itself last time but it has happened again with a new post.

Is this because it is a new post? But surely this shouldn't happen.

Can you please take a look at the screenshot.

Also, once the post has been shared, the photo has not been shown? Any reason for this.

Sorry to ask so many questions, thanks for your help.

Site details, if you need them are included
Hey Alex,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. I have applied some fixes to the way EasyBlog defines the og:image tag. It should fetch the image now but for the post at https://multikingdom.com/index.php?option=com_easyblog&view=entry&id=18&lang=en , it looks like the image is too small.

Ideally, you should use the post cover functionality to define a primary image for your blog post.

Thanks very much Mark, do I need to install anything new, or have you just updated it on my system?

I have explained to my bloggers that they should but they don't always use a cover image.

Thanks as always though.

Hey Alex,

By using the post cover, it ensures that the image is in it's appropriate size. If your authors are uploading small images, Facebook will not use them. Take a look at their requirements here, https://developers.facebook.com/docs/sharing/best-practices

Hi

Sorry to bring this up again, but as you can see by the screenshot, the code that I was talking about before is still showing when a post is shared. As well as when it is automatically posted to facebook.

Can you look into this please, if you need site details, please let me know.

Thanks

Hi Alex,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply.

Hm, this is weird. Something is actually injecting the code inside all of your description tag as you can see from my screenshot here, http://screencast.com/t/6AxnvmxxV3 . When I tried to inspect the code closely the initial description tag does not contain any code to begin with. By the way before I continue with debugging process on your site, can I have the permission to update your easyblog to the latest version first and see if the issue still persist?

Please advise.

Hi Ezrul

Please do go ahead and update the version, hopefully this will fix it, if not then hopefully the debugging will.

Many thanks

Hi Alex,

It seems like the following plugin is causing the issue, System - JFBCSystem. As soon as I disabled the plugin, the description is showing correctly. Not really sure what is the purpose of that plugin on your site. Perhaps you can try to consult with JFBConnect on what is that plugin for? In the meantime I've enabled back the plugin as it might caused your site become unstable.

Kindly get back to us once they have reply back to your inquiry.

Hi Ezrul

Thanks for that, I will get back to you soon, although I have tried to contact them recently and received no reply about something else, so I am not holding out much hope.

I will have a play later and see if I can get something working.

Jfbconnect is mostly used for my logging in, allowing users to login through various social media sites, Facebook, Twitter, Google+, yahoo.

It also controls all the Facebook comments and liking system, although I have a better liking system lined up to install.

Do you lovely helpful people have some software that can do this, because I would be more than happy to switch over.

Thanks

Hi Alex,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply.

Hm, from my understanding only jfbconnect has the ability to achieve this. Not really sure if there are any components that might be able to replace jfbconnect component but perhaps you could try posting a new thread somewhere in joomla community regarding on this. By the way keep us updated and see how it goes.

Hi

I have had a response from jfbconnect, but it would appear that the code only shows up when there is no cover photo.

This is what they said

alzander Wrote:
Are you still having this issue? I'm looking at the URL from your image above and the og:description and twitter:description tags are correct. The JFBCSystem plugin is enabled on that page. That plugin is a requirement for all JFBConnect functionality, so it can't just be disabled or all other features of JFBConnect will cease working. Please let us know if you changed anything or what we can help with. I can provide an image of the current tags in the HTML if you'd like, but right now, the raw HTML is not appearing, so things seem right to me. Thanks, Alex

Can you take a look at the different posts on the site, try and share them through Facebook and you can see the one's with cover photos are fine but the one's with out show code before the intro.

Thanks

Hi Alex,

Hm, now for some reason everything is working correctly now for all post even the plugin is enabled from your backend. Check my screenshot here, http://screencast.com/t/tttYPjGtSree . Can you check and verify it for me?

To be honest we are not sure why the issue is occurring but by looking at our code and how easyblog fetching the data and inject it into og:description and image everything should be working fine with and without cover image. Only the final output is somehow being touched by the system plugin javascript as I mentioned earlier before.

Hi Sam,

Can you start a new thread instead and provide us with your Joomla backend and FTP access so we can check on the issue of yours?
