How can I change the popup for facebook (when you login to the site) into an lightbox popup instead?

Unfortunately it is not possible to change the facebook popup behavior currently.

You can take a look at the following file, /components/com_easysocial/controllers/registration.php at method @oauthSignup and also the caller file example at login page here, /components/com_easysocial/themes/wireframe/login/default.php at line 117, $facebook->getLoginButton.
