After solving my initial problem: http://stackideas.com/forums/autopost-setup-for-facebook-pages-can-t-get-it

Autoposting now posts to my Facebook page but is creating the incorrect URL. Before the above solution, the link was fine (but on my personal Facebook page).
Hey Andrew,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply,

You are not doing something different to everyone else, actually that was a bug and causing this issue.

I already applied all the fix in your site, it should show correctly permalink now.

Can you give it a try submit a new test post from backend and see how it goes?

By the way, you can check my final test post, it already point to correct URL.'

Keep us update if the issue still persists.

Hi Andrew,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply.

Can I have the permission to create a test post and then autopost to your facebook page so we can test the url directly?

Hi Ezrul,

Thank you for your help.

If test posting is what you need to do, please go ahead. But please make it clear that they are test posts so as not to confuse my Facebook followers. If you like, I can supply you with some content that would make more sense to my Facebook followers than just a test post? Please advise.

Thanks.

Hey Andrew,

I've published a test post in your site, I checked from your Facebook page that post URL become http://sitedomain/de/blog-en/this-is-test-post-please-ignore

Do you know where this /blog-en/ menu generated?

By the way, can I have your Facebook and FTP access so we can better have a check and I can delete these test post from your Facebook page when I published some test post in your site.

Hey Arlex,

blog-en is part of the joomla menu structure (blog = German language menu item, blog-en = English language menu item). Each of the menu items point to a different category of the blog (English or German).

You will the access information you asked for in my previous ticket:
http://stackideas.com/forums/autopost-setup-for-facebook-pages-can-t-get-it

I hope you can access that information. I'll also update the original ticket in this thread with the information I have to hand.

hey Andrew,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply,

I already understand your current menu structure and I've tested published few test post in your site.

Firstly, by default your site language is set German as default language.

So I create a blog post from your frontend -> http://flowing-health.ch/de/blog-de , after the blog autopost to Facebook, that post URL will follow back what site language you post from, for example : http://flowing-health.ch/de/blog-de/this-is-test-post-2

The Facebook is pointing to correct page.

May i know where you publish your blog post?

Hey Arlex,

Many thanks for your help. I'm afraid I don't really understand your last question.

Having checked my site again, I see you have changed the URL for the German blog (which is no problem, thank you). So the blog itself (German version) is now at: http://flowing-health.ch/de/blog-de and the English version is at http://flowing-health.ch/en/blog-en

The test post you made is at: http://flowing-health.ch/de/blog-de/this-is-test-post-2 but shows only in the English overview at http://flowing-health.ch/en/blog-en (NOT at the German blog page http://flowing-health.ch/de/blog-de)

So the post you made (English) is appearing on the German blog page (as shown by .../de/blog-de).

I am not sure that helps you?

Thank you again for your support.

Hey Andrew,

I think I understand what you trying to achieve now, first ignore these autopost thing first is because your current multiple language configuration is not correct.

I noticed you have create 2 blog for the same blog content.
English - Welcome to the Flowing Health Blog
German - Willkommen zum Flowing Health Blog

So i have enabled few option from your backend Easyblog setting page, you can refer on my attached screenshot how I did for these above post, because you have to associated with these 2 blog post.

Once you understand the flow, then we continuous to test autopost permalink issue.

Many thanks, Arlex!

I think I now understand and have now corrected the associations for the other 2 of my blog posts.

Will you now be testing the permalink situation for me?

Thanks again for your great support!

Hey Andrew,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. I tried to login to the ftp with the provided ftp login credentials but it isn't working. Can you please advise? This is what I am getting when trying to login to the ftp server, http://screencast.com/t/JUB76cZM

Hey Mark,

Thank you for working even at the weekend to help. Much appreciated. I have added a new username/password pair for the FTP. Those are the login details for WebFTP. I hope they work (don't know why the other pair doesn't work for you ... works fine for me in my FTP programme).

Thanks again.

Hey Mark,

I have just reset username and password (see original ticket again). These are the exact details I am using. Maybe the issue is the server you are accessing from (I have had issues with accessing FTP when I have been outside of the country). If this doesn't work, maybe you would need to try WebFTP or send me the files that need uploading?

Thanks again.

Still not working I actually need to troubleshoot this and need to login to the ftp to manually modify multiple files. I can't just send you the files.

Do you think you can speak with your web hoster and get the ftp access for us?

I have changed the FTP access data in the original ticket to the WEBFTP information. Please try that. Of course, you'll need to use your browser rather than FTP software

If it still doesn't work, I'll contact the hoster.

Thanks.

hey Andrew,

I still can't connect in your current live site web FTP access, perhaps you can guide me the step how to connect through your web FTP? Because I've tried to select the domain but I do not know how to connect your current live site FTP. (screenshot : http://screencast.com/t/yaaSuOLM3d )

Or do you know how to setup a FTP user account, if you know about it, can you create a FTP account for us, so I can enter the host/username/password and connect your FTP server through FileZilla program?

By the way, I just published 2 blog test post from your frontpage.

It seems like work fine, you can take a look of my video here : http://screencast.com/t/glmrWjDZj

And I also noticed if publish the blog post from backend, it will missing the language code from the blog permalink. Regarding this issue I've still investigate on this.

Perhaps you can temporary publish the blog post from frontend first.

Hey Arlex,

Thanks again for your hard work. I have now set up a new FTP user and supplied the details in the original ticket. I have also included (in the comments of the original ticket) how to access webFTP with the appropriate login details.

Again, many thanks for your help.

Hm, it seems like if publish the blog post from backend, the Joomla router language filter do not get trigger and do not get the correctly language code SEF.

May i know where you publish the blog post in your site? frontend or backend?

Also may i know do you have test publish the blog post from frontend is it work fine now?

Hey Arlex,
I think I understand. Until now I have only tried to use the Autopost feature and have not tried to post to FB from the blog page on my site. If I have to do that, then the autopost feature is not really useful.
I think this is what you were asking?

I guess I could like without Autopost. But it would be a nice feature to use.

Where do we go from here?

Thanks again for your help.

Hey Andrew,

I am sorry for the confusing here, what my previous question is where (frontend or backend) you publish your test post previously?

Based on what my investigation, I noticed the autopost to Facebook issue is when you publish from backend, regarding this issue I still looking for the better solution and I will continuous to check on it.

But when you publish the blog post from your site frontend, it will work fine.

Dear Arlex,

OK. Now I understand. The original posts (announcing the blog) were also posted from the backend. However, as the Facebook app wasn't yet set up for my page, the posts were made to my personal page. I then "shared" them with my page.

Thanks again.

hey Andrew,

For some reason I still can't connect with your FTP server, when I try to login via FileZilla program in WIndows pc, it show me this error :
Error:	Connection timed out
Error: Could not connect to server

By the way, I already tested in my locally and knew where causing this issue, I would like to try in your site and see is it can publish post from backend then the Facebook autopost permalink is it show correctly.

By right, you no need manually share it from your frontpage to Facebook page, because the Facebook autopost feature will help you automatic when you publish that post first time, it will auto share on your Facebook page.

Thank you, Arlex. I don't know how else to provde you with FTP access. The credentials I gave you (FTP and webFTP) work perfectly for me. So I can only assume it is an issue associated with your location.

Maybe I can sort this out with my provider if you can give me an IP address (or range) or similar to them as reference. Then I can ask them to ensure you have access.

Please advise.

I use 3D-FTP and have no problems when in Switzerland. I have had similar problems to the ones you are experiencing when I have tried to access FTP when out of the country. The option WebFTP has always worked for me until now.

I will contact my host for support on this.

Oh, it seems like you updated that webFTP, now I can access through the browser, but I am not really sure which part is exact your current Joomla root folder.

../heilung/Joomla/ <- this one is it correct? Because I open this directory, it only show log and tmp folder.

Hey Arlex,

My host has confirmed that FTP access outside of Switzerland is blocked using FTP software and cannot be changed. Great that you have got in via webFTP now. The folder for the site is /html/flowing-health-2014

Thanks again.

Thanks again, Arlex. I just tried it. It almost works correctly, but ony almost .

When I post, the Facebook autopost appears on my page BUT both the German and English versions point to the English blog on my site. The individual blog posts are in the right language, though.

In other words:
- the German post is in the right place on my site (.../de/blog_de/...)
- the English post is in the right place on my site (../en/blog_en/....)
- the facebook post points to the WRONG place for the German post (../en/blog_en) but shows the correct post on the blog when on my site (although in the ENGLISH category)
- the facebook post points to the right place for the English post (../en/blog_en) and shows the correct post etc. on my site

You can check my latest blog posts for reference.

Sorry for the delay getting back to you, Arlex. Unfortunately, the fix hasn't really helped.

The German facebook post points to ../blog_en/.. instead of to ../de/blog_de/..
The English Facebook post points to ../blog_en/.. instead of to ../en/blog_en/..

Am I doing something so different to everyone else that this is so difficult to solve? Maybe I could work differently to avoid this rather than you customising code for me (which may disappear with an update???)? If so, please supply instructions.

Thanks again for your help.
