Dear all, the facebook login is broken.
Can it be, it relates to solving previous issue? (https://stackideas.com/forums/error-28-operation-timed-out-after-10000-milliseconds-with-0-out-of-0-bytes-received)
See the screen record: https://www.loom.com/share/38e50d0225ba411b8f231e3f8dcc168d
Hi Raymond!

My apologies and my compliment for your engagement. Actually, I assumed the answer immediately after reading your letter to support. Hosting has replied with information that Facebook is blocked in Russia, and my hosting is currently in Russia.

So the issue was not the software, but really blockage of whole country.

I have deactivated facebook login and have to search another VPS provider outside of Russia.

Thank you very much, the issue is finally clarified!

Best, Dimitri

Hi Dimitri,

I changed the following registration integration from PayPlans to default and then see if Facebook registration works properly.
Settings>General>Checkout>Registration Integration

During my test, I hit an error with RSSeo. I then disable this extension and tested again. I hit another error and this time it's the same as last ticket that you mentioned.

After doing a google search on this error(example), it looks like most of the time it is related to the server.
Can you check with your webhosting provider and see if they have any clues on this? You can let them know the system is basically trying to curl Facebook.

Hi Raymond,

what is the exact question I shoudl forward to host providers? This is usually the dead end, cause the software provider usially says the fault is on server side, and host provider usually answes it has nothing to do with host and the issue is on side of software provider.

I do not think the topic is on server side cause nothing changed on it in last month. Also I am testing now another host-server with clone "https://psynema.club/club", and it has the same timeout issue. So the topic happens on two independent servers with two intdependent providers.

Also please do not deactivate RSSeo, it is critical for search engines. Please consider the change of default language: I just changed it to Russian, and now also the google login is not functioning.

Please inverstigate further or give me exact question I can forward to host provider.

Best, Dimitri

Understood Dimitri.

I have not conclude that this is the server fault. I would just like to gather more information, for example, whether the server have any ideas why the curl to Facebook did not go through and hit that error. Sometimes they can see data or details from their end that the software provider cannot see. Sometimes there are firewall in place on the server that prevents connections to 3rd party urls.

I will investigate more to see whether the issue can be reproduced outside of Joomla and EasySocial.

In the meantime, you can provide these to the host provider.
- state the error, which is shown in my previous screenshot.
- show them my previous screenshot.
- show them the screenshot in this reply. This is so they can see what sort of parameters are present inside the curl request.
- question will be, 'any idea why this error occurs when a curl requests is sent to Facebook? Are there any security/firewall in place on the server that could have blocked such curl requests? Any other information available with regards to this error?'

By the way, no other users reported this error on EasySocial/EasyBlog. The error also does not occur on my local instance.
now also the google login is not functioning
What do mean by 'not functioning'? Do you mean that you are redirected to plan selection(PayPlans) after clicking on google login?

Raymond, the host provider is responsible for settings of PHP and ISP manager, nothing more. In your error screen there are only errors in site folders related to JS (if I understand correctly). Host provider is not responsible for Java errors). So do you have some concrete instructions related to PHP settings, etc?

Also I repeat: I have VPS server running since two years already, and this error is visible since two weeks, whereby nothing seems to be changed before.

Not functioning means that now I can not login with password and email and getting "token error". Google login is functioning, facebook is not and redirects to payplans, and simple loging is broken: https://www.loom.com/share/fcb6768573d8410aa2c2e1471c187766

After cleaning cache in Joomla single login is functioning, facebook redirects to payplans without login, google login not functioning means it closes the open window.

Hey Dimitri,

I'm still investigating your initial issue.

Invalid token during login is normally related to cache so glad to know it's working now after you cleared it.
google login not functioning means it closes the open window.
Social login closes the browser tab issue has been resolved in version 4.0.12.

Hey Dimitri,

Regarding your initial issue, I managed to reproduce it outside of EasySocial and Joomla.

A simple curl can be found in the following file and link.
https://freud.online/testcurl.php
JoomlaFolder/testcurl.php

The curl url is obtained from the graph api explorer in Facebook(attached2).

When I run this url, the curl is supposed to output my fbid and first name. But as you can see on the first screenshot, the server is throwing a gateway timeout error after 1 minute.

The error you experienced earlier(error 28 operation timed out...) is an error that is thrown when this parameter is set in curl to 10 seconds(CURLOPT_CONNECTTIMEOUT). Without this parameter, the curl connection is still timing out at 1 minute.

Unfortunately I don't know where this timeout is set on the server, only the server knows. But other than that, the connection is supposed to go through in a few seconds, not few minutes. So you should ask the webhosting to investigate this first before jumping to conclusions.

A web hosting company plays the key role in providing purposeful best web hosting service along with domain name and other website security tools such as codeguard, SiteLock and SSL certificate. They are also responsible for web security so there may be some firewall set up somewhere recently.

All I can say is EasySocial is not causing the curl timeout. Because this is happening outside of Joomla and EasySocial as well.

Dear Raymond, as I said already, I do not want to play an intermediate between the software and host provider. Please provide exact wording of the question I can forward to host support, without lyrics, in technical manner. Not in style "dear Dimitriy please forward my words" (cause I just do not understand and can not validate your statements), but exact question. For example, "please open port 33333 in the firewall". I am sure they will respond "address it to software", but just cause you request it.

Please provide the following content and the 2 attached files to the hosting support. They should assist you since you have paid for their service. If they refuse to assist you in the issue, you are getting bad service.

Dear technical support,

I am getting a 504 Gateway Timeout error when running this url. https://freud.online/testcurl.php
Basically this file/url has a simple curl function and is trying to curl https://graph.facebook.com. When the link is accessed, the page loads for 1 minute, then the timeout error appears. Please refer to the screenshot(1st attachment) for the results and codes used in the file.

May I know whether the server has placed a restriction on curl requests for graph.facebook.com? I do not encounter this timeout error when executing the same codes on a local instance site(2nd attachment).
Please get back to me if you have any other enquiries.
