I may have realised a problem and this may be a bug. If I publish a blog and it gets a load of likes for example say 10. If I then notice a spelling error in the blog and I go back into it and correct that mistake and save the blog the likes disappear (as if it's a new blog.) Surely the previous likes should still be there? This is also happening to the other social integrations ie Twitter, Google+.
Hello Richard,

Sorry for the late reply. Did you by any chance change the title of the post too? If the post URL changes the social button counts will be gone too The information of the counts are saved in the social network's server. The way it get the counts are through URLs. Hope this helps.

Thanks!

Hello RIchard,

The only reason that would cause the blog post to lose the likes is when the URL has changed because Facebook associates the likes with the URL of the page

Hello Richard,

You need to compare the URL back with the previous URL I am not too sure how does the previous URL structure works.

Mark,

The URL address on facebook that points back to the blog appears to be associated to an ID see below:

http://www.myapptutor.com/index.php?option=com_easyblog&view=entry&id=62

however, the link on the Blog frontpage and indeed the link to the blog itself fro Easyblog and my site is:

http://www.myapptutor.com/index.php/blog/entry/my-app-tutor-tv/my-app-tutor-tv-episode-15

which is all a little confusing. Surely it would make sense for them both to be the same and therefore any "Likes" either end in Facebook or Easyblog would register as a like in the count box.

Hello Richard,

Sorry for the late reply. Hmm I checked your site and it seems like changing the category will affect the URL. For example now the URL

http://www.myapptutor.com/index.php/blog/entry/my-app-tutor-tv/my-app-tutor-tv-episode-15

is basically

http://yourdomain.com/index.php/menu-alias/view/category/entry-name

So when you change the category the URL will change. Hope this clears things up

Thanks!
