This is strange. This seems to happen frequently on different browsers and on different systems. I clear the cache to ensure it's not that. Also you can see in the attached image that i took from Facebook that there are no likes registered on there.

Actually they are different place for "LIKE" position, when a user click "Like" from your facebook status, it can't be connect the total LIKE with your blog. The meaning is the blog "LIKE" is count from which user click "LIKE" from your side, it won't count from your facebook. Hope this explanation will help.

but if i like the post from facebook it will register in easyblog that i have liked it doesn't it?

Actually that step is when you click the LIKE button, the facebook need to verify who is clicking LIKE button, so it pop out the login box for verify you're registered user in facebook and you can share this blog post in your facebook profile. It doesn't connect that total LIKE count together.

ok thank you. so to clarify the liking a post is not a two way thing it only registers on Easyblog if liked on Easyblog and it likes on both Facebook and Easyblog if liked in Facebook?

Yup, actually it got 2 way to LIKE it on you blog, but remember if they LIKE it on your facebook status, that LIKE it not count it together with your blog, the user must view to your blog post and LIKE it .

I may have realised the problem and this may be a bug. If I publish a blog and it gets a load of likes for example say 10. If I then notice a spelling error in the blog and I go back into it and correct that mistake and save the blog the likes disappear (as if it's a new blog.) Surely the previous likes should still be there? This is also happening to the other social integrations ie Twitter, Google+.

Do you mean that when you edit the blog post then save it, that all social LIKE number become zero ? Correct me if i getting wrong meaning from your previous replied, and provide some screenshot for easy to us reproduce that issues from your side? Please advise.
