I have followed the instructions for Facebook Autoposting and get all the way to the last screen of Authentication and get a server reset. I did this several times. To be clear I successfully signed on with my FB id from the Easy Blog Admin Panel and get all the way to the last screen, approve it and then get a server reset message. What could be blocking the completion of the authentication process?
Hey there,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

You are most likely hitting this issue because your web server is rejecting the URL that is being redirected from Facebook back to the site. This issue is often caused by mod_security. Perhaps you can try check this with your hosting provider and let us know if you are still having this issue

By the way, if you are using hostgator server, you can pass this following message to your hosting, because our customer got share this for us how to prevent this issue.

Yes, go into WHM at Home »Security Center »ModSecurity™ Tools » Rules List, from there click the Edit Custom Rules button.
You can remove and re-add the line for the "10_asl_rules.conf" as you need to test.

Thanks Arlex,

Site5.com support is looking into this. So far they report

"I looked into this issue for you and checked the server logs but I am not finding any instance where the request was blocked by mod_security nor am I finding any other errors. "

I'm attaching the error message I get just in case it helps.

Hey Ed,

They won't be able to find anything on their logs. I just replied another customer yesterday as he was having the same exact issue and the hosting company finally admitted that it was mod_security that is preventing the redirects from Facebook to your site.

I can't share the link to that thread because the forum post was set to private but, this is something that you can simulate on your end (pass the links below to your provider)

Thanks Mark,

I just passed on your comment to Site5 support. Hopefully they will now have what they need. I'll reply again tomorrow one way or the other.

Yes. It is a mod_security issue. They turned off mod_security and I easily completed the integration. Now they need help figuring out what the problem is. Below is my latest conversation with Site 5. Could you tell me how to help them figure this out. Be as technical as you want. I'll cut and paste and give them the info.

______

Hello Ed,

Since there's nothing logged on the server side I'm unable to locate the exact problem what was causing this issue previously. If there's a way we can replicate this from our end in order to analyze the live data it would be easier for us to pinpoint the exact problem. Please update this ticket if you have the exact steps we can take and we'll be more than happy to check this out for you.

Thanks,

Hi Marian,

As this is a known problem to Stackideas could you perhaps be in direct contact with them to discuss it?

Do you need me to make introductions?

Sincerely,

Ed

Hi Ed,

Regretfully we don't usually contact 3rd party developers and you would need to contact them from your side and let us know their input. Please advise what the exact steps to replicate the issue in full are and what the developer's latest messages are about the issue so we can further investigate. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Thanks,

Hi Edward,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply.

Basically the only request that we sent to the server is purely from facebook request. Perhaps you can try to take a look on the article here where people facing similar issue with facebook share that does not involve easyblog, http://www.gearhack.com/Forums/DisplayComments.php?file=Computer/Network/Internet/Preventing_Your_Web_Server_From_Blocking_Facebook_Share .

Hope these help.
