Hi there,

I'm trying to integrate Easyblog with Facebook, following your documentation which, by the way I have noticed, you updated yesterday April 10th. I have created a Facebook App and tried to add publish_actions (I see you asked for publish_pages manage_pages item on your updated documentation, as well as Facebook Login product). However, they haven't approved publish_actions on the grounds that app is not showing on front-end website. I have told them that integration happens on back-end, have sent them a screencast, etc). Any suggestion on how to get this approved?

Thanks,

Carlos
Hello Carlos,

If you are mainly going to use the same account (with the account that created the Facebook app) for the auto postings, you don't really need "publish_actions" but if you are going to allow other users to use their own Facebook account to auto post to their profile, then you would require the "publish_actions" permission.

With such permissions, EasyBlog would then be able to automatically post on their Facebook post on behalf of them. Facebook requires this permission to be reviewed because they are worried that people start to post spams on behalf of the user.

Therefore, the best way to explain to them is that you are setting up a blog, and the blog will be posted on behalf of the user when they submit their blog post. The post will be created by the users themselves. I would also suggest that you take a screen shot of the composing area with the Facebook icon (checkbox) as the author has the option to auto post to Facebook or not as it is not an explicit option.

By doing so, this would probably speed up the review process because they might not understand the needs of doing this.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for your prompt reply. It sounds as if they're going to approve it in the end. I tried hard to explain why I need it the publish_action item, with screencast and all the rest. They didn't seem to understand but after sending them a link to Easyblog's autoposting documentation (with my credentials) they finally understood.

Kind regards,

Carlos

Thanks for updating us on this Carlos and glad that they finally realized this. The moderation process is somewhat tedious but it seems like this is the only way that one can utilize their API this way
