Hi, I would like to know what is the level of transparency of my site from Facebook's perspective once I do the authentication?
Do they have access to all my member data?
Thanks.
Hello Ben,

If a user registers on your site with their Facebook account, Facebook already has their data In fact, I think they have more data about the user than you do (including their browsing behavior)

However, by submitting your app on Facebook, they will not be able to access your user's data though because EasySocial does not send any data to Facebook unless the user chooses to auto post their posts into Facebook (which is duplicating the content on your site onto Facebook)

Thanks for that explanation Mark.
I was under the impression by authenticating with facebook (or like you put it, submitting my app to them) that they will have access to a lot of data on my site.

So what would happen to the members that are signed up on my site through facebook when i will turn off the Facebook app (as i eventually want to turn it off).

Also from your knowledge, is facebook ok with advertising my easysocial site on their site (even the paid/boost option)?
thanks
ben

Hey Ben,

It really doesn't matter because they will not have any data from your site. When you turn off the Facebook sign in, users that previously signed up on your site with their Facebook account, will not be able to click the "Sign in with Facebook" button. If they hadn't created a username / password, then they will not be able to login to the site.

Oh ok that's good to know because the idea with my site was that a lot of people would probably switch over from facebook and only use my site so by authenticating with facebook i didn't want facebook to have their tentacles in my data .

So do members that sign in with their facebook account get a notification at any time during their use of my site to actually ask them create an account on my site? And does it allow the users to just port their facebook details to my site OR do they literally have to manually create a new account on my site like everyone else?

Also just on that last question i asked in my last post, do you know anything about that?
Thanks for your help.

Hey Ben,

If they sign in with their Facebook account, there will not be any notification on Facebook to ask them to register on your site because by clicking on the sign in with Facebook, they are already creating an account on your site This allows EasySocial to import some of their profile details from Facebook over (Facebook does not allow importing all of the user's data though)

I believe if you are advertising your site on Facebook, it is perfectly fine so long you don't try to compete in Facebook in that ad You could always go around with the idea of joining a niche network to collaborate or share ideas
