hello I had the facebook login working fine but it wouldnt work earlier so I tried creating new details.

Now I can't edit a profile because it says There is an error retrieving your Facebook details. Facebook returns an error message of: "(#12) username is deprecated for versions v2.0 and higher" but i cant get in to change the social intergration within the profile & cant see what to do in admin either.

Is there a way to switch off the intergaration of facebook with a users profile in the back end, i need to delete the record so can test to see if the new facebook app is working as it was before.

thanks
Hello Jason,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. In the new Facebook API 2.0, they no longer allow vendors to "extract" information about a user's username (Bad Move!!@#$!@#) but we'll be releasing EasySocial 1.2.11 shortly to address this

Hello how can i disconnect a facebook account from an ES user's account.

I delete the app from the facebook account it was linked to but am still getting messages about facebook which prevent me from updating that profile.

Easy way would be to delete profile and make another but thought I'd see if there was a setting in the back end to cut the link

all i can find it the main on of switch but that doesnt stop this little glitch

Hi Jason,

You can actually 'disconnect' from your FB account when you in your profile edit page When you register with FB in ES, ES actually create a Joomla user account for you. So you just need to login with this joomla account and go to profile edit page and 'disconnect your FB from this Joomla account.

Hope this help and have a nice day

Hi Jason,

Can you pass me your user account so that I can login as you to debug the issue?
Please advise.

Hello Sam

I've added the profile name and password

the reason the error is happening (I Think) is because i deleted the facebook app and created another at a time when i thought it might fix an issue that turned out to be fixed in the following easysocial release.

But as to fixing it I don't know, I could delete profile and start over it wouldn't be that much hassle, I just thought I should mention it anyway.

thanks

Hello Jason,

Ah, the reason that you can't revoke it is because you have actually deleted your Facebook app. In order to revoke the access, the app needs to exist

Hello Mark

I thought that was the case, no problem for me as I can just delete and recreate the profile but i wonder.

In the case of a live site with thousands of members connected to Facebook and the App having to be recreated for what ever the reason, would'nt there need to be some way admins could disconnect the users?

Otherwise thousands of users would be locked out from being able to edit their profiles?

I turned off the option to let people sign up with facebook and still am locked out but anyway I'll just create another profile, just thinking on how this could or would effect a live site.

thanks

Hello Jason,

Hm, why would you need to re-create the app eh? In the event that you really need to, it's perfectly fine because the next time the user logs in again, they would just need to re-authorize the new app again.

Hello Mark

When I ran in to a problem with facebook login and thought it was may be down to me doing something wrong i read of people who had similar errors and it was mentioned about just building the app again.
I thought for the sake of a few minutes I'd recreate the app rather then ask here before I ruled out my own errors.

Anyway my point still seems to stand because if it works as you say then by rights i should have been able to login-go to edit profile and re authorize the app for that profile given that i made a new app and updated the details straight after deleting the first attempt.

Not to be locked out from editing the profile at all with the facebook error message interrupting & no way to connect to the new app or dis connect from the old.

Hope that makes sense,

long story short,, if the face book app should for however remote a reason need to be changed, users should not be stopped from editing there own profile or using a new app if available should they?

I only mention it as i was just surprised that there doesn't seem to be any means to reauthorize the facebook app & the preventing of editing the rest of the profile seems strange too.

Like i said this is not really an issue for me but i thought it could be for others perhaps

Hello Jason,

If you need to re-create the app on Facebook, as soon as you change the app, when the user logs into the site again (with Facebook), they need to re-authorize this new app. When you switch your app, and re-login with Facebook, did it came with those permission popups again?

Hello Mark

I see, I had been logging in with my ES Profile details, I had not thought to try and log back in with facebook, I got to sidetracked because not being able to edit profile at all threw me.

Anyway I just tried to log in with facebook and reauthorize, yes the permissions pop ups came up and the link with facebook seemed to go threw seamlessly but after which and clearing all cache/ browser details/cookies the problem still exists with the same error message, i tried then logging out and back in with the ES profile info and still the message.

Anyway like I said not so much an issue for me, I'll just ditch that profile, only mention things with the view to help make easysocial better or to clarify whether it is me at fault or a genuine issue.

I'm just assuming you would rather people mention things then not, I don't mean to waste your time or anything so apologize if this is just a none issue.
