hi SI Team

I am trying to post links for articles on FB

the article is here:

http://finalbug.net/blog/entry/404-in-depth-3d-titles-fcpx-10-2-part-1-of-3

ON FB I have the option to use images from previous articles such as:

http://finalbug.net/blog/entry/400-edit-in-resolve-the-fcp-way-part-01
http://finalbug.net/blog/entry/401-edit-in-resolve-the-fcp-way-part-02

When I go here:

https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/og/object?q=http%3A%2F%2Ffinalbug.net%2Fblog%2Fentry%2F404-in-depth-3d-titles-fcpx-10-2-part-1-of-3

I get the following message:

og:image was not defined, could not be downloaded or was not big enough. Please define a chosen image using the og:image metatag, and use an image that's at least 200x200px and is accessible from Facebook. Image 'http://finalbug.net/images/easyblog_images/62/2015FirstQuater/31032015_Resolve_Part02WEB.jpg' will be used instead.

The image that I am using is attached below.

Please advise what I am missing.

thanks

Paul
Hello Paul,

JCE editor are actually working fine and most of the features are working. You can see from the screenshot here, http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-05-18_1817.png . Perhaps the only issue is for the image plugin feature like the one you facing currently in this thread. Other than that everything is working fine as it should

Hi Paul Murray,

Sorry for late reply to this,

I have no ideas why this image is not get retrieve any data in Facebook and Easysocial. Take a look of my screenshot at below.

Perhaps you have to try use another image replace it and see how it goes.

Hi Arlex

I changed the image as you suggested.

Maybe there are some clues here:

A)

When I go to face book and copy and paste the link...
The correct Blog text intro is pulled from the blog post.
The first letter of the Blog text intro is missing!
The wrong image is pulled!

B)

I click to the 2nd of 3 images in the image preview thing…
There is no text below the image.
The wrong image is pulled!

C)

I click to the3rd of 3 images in the image preview thing…
There is no text below the image.
The correct image is pulled!

D)

I press publish after clicking my way to the third (correct) image!
The correct image is pulled and published.
The first letter of the Blog text intro is missing!

Any thoughts. I have encounter problems like this before and it would be great to get to the bottom of it!

thanks

Paul

Hello Paul,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply.

It seems like in the blog entry http://finalbug.net/blog/entry/404-in-depth-3d-titles-fcpx-10-2-part-1-of-3 image is inserted along with the video popup from the jce editor features, http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-05-12_1838.png . Hence facebook are unable to fetch the og:image tag inside blog post as the image is embedded within another layout.

I've tried to create a test post by using similar image but without the popup, http://finalbug.net/blog/entry/405-test-post-kindly-ignore and the image get generated properly in the facebook stream, http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-05-12_1834.png .

Perhaps this can clear things up upon your issue.

Hi Ezrul

I hate to say this but it does not really help.
This used to work.
I have dozens of posts where it worked!
And I have the missing letter issue.

Am somewhat at a loss.
I know that EB 5 is around the corner and that this will probably kill the JCE plugin for me.
Just it would be nice to get this to work as it used to until EB 5 gets here?

If you have any ideas, I would be eager to hear them

best

Hello Support

I have tried the standard SI way and as far as I can tell it has more problems than this.

http://stackideas.com/forums/embed-video-different-sizes-blog-blog-list

Please, any idea why the first letter of the post to Facebook goes missing?

thanks

Hello Paul,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply.

any idea why the first letter of the post to Facebook goes missing?

It seems like you have put custom metadata inside the blog metadata content. I've checked the metadata and the first letter is missing from there, http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-05-14_1735.png . I've added the missing alphabet there and it should be fine now.

Regarding on the facebook image issue, after some close inspection on your blog entry http://finalbug.net/blog/entry/404-in-depth-3d-titles-fcpx-10-2-part-1-of-3 it seems like there are three image source inside the <img> tag as you can see from the screenshot here, http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-05-14_1804.png . The green one indicate the "mouse hover" image source while the red one is the original source. Hence when easyblog try to process the opengraph image tag, it will fetch all three of the image source thus causing some conflict. You can see from the final output of opengraph tag for image below,
<meta property="og:image" content="http://finalbug.net/images/easyblog_images/62/2015-2ndQuater/FCPX_3D_text_1of3_BRUCE.jpg';" onmouseout="this.src='/images/easyblog_images/62/2015-2ndQuater/FCPX_3D_text_1of3_web.jpg';" alt="FCPX 3D text 1of3" src="/images/easyblog_images/62/2015-2ndQuater/FCPX_3D_text_1of3_web.jpg"/>

Perhaps you can try to remove the hover features from the editor and see if the problem still persist.

Hi Ezrul

Thank you for this I really appreciate this :-)

Yes I remember this happened to me before and I forgot it.
Sorry :-(
Yep, I am talking about the missing letter thing!

What you are saying about the image also makes sense.

FYI information this is how it works:

There is the standard blog image, there is a mouse over image and there is a mouse out image.
Standard = The image appears on the Blog post
Mouse Over = When I move the mouse over the image
Mouse Out = When I move the mouse away from the image

In the moment when the mouse is on the image and the image changes if I click the video plays.
As they say in French Viola…

I will play with this further but I suspect that this work flow will break at the very latest when I have EB 5 up and running. Can you confirm my suspicion?

thanks

Hello Paul,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply.

I've played around the JCE editor in EB 5 and unfortunately when I'm trying to setup the image just like you did in your blog entry, the problem remain the same as EB 3.9 . I will consult with our developer regarding on this issue and hopefully we can do something about it. Thank you Paul for the feedback on JCE Editor

Hi Ezrul

No worries. The thing is that I suspect that JCE editor will be redundant when EB 5 comes out at the latest?
Can you confirm or deny my suspicions?

thanks

Hello Ezrul

Ahhhhhhh. That is very interesting.

When I have EB 5 up and running I will need to make a decision whether to ditch JCE or not.
It has some cool functions but is frankly painful to maintain

Thank you very much for this information...
