Hi Mark & Team,

I'm excited looking at v1.3.0 Roadmap starts to have status again feels like v1.2.0 all over again LOL! Thank you!

Anyways, for Exporting & Importing Profile Data, since it has not been started yet. Does this mean, all the data within the selected Profile will be exported and not just the settings? I think this may apply to everybody, in my case, my data in my staging/dev server has older or different data from my live site. So, if this feature will default to Export/Import Data and Settings all together, when I set and test everything in my dev and import it to my live site all the garbage I have in my dev will also be in my live. If I may suggest, to have an option:

[*] Settings only
[*] Data Only
[*] Settings & Data.

Other people might have different idea, please add yours

Thanks,

Jackson
Hello Jackson,

It's only to copy the settings currently You can refer to this request at http://stackideas.com/forums/save-copy-function-for-profiles

Hi Mark,

Awesome! I think my brain interpret Data as records but then technically Settings are also records and therefore a Data.

Oh yeah, that was me who suggested that feature

Thanks again Mark!

It would be great to import/export between installs for easy portability and ease of backup as well. This is more important than profile import/export.

Hi Peter,

You can already to that in PhpMyAdmin, can't you? Export all #__social_tableszzz and import it to another site using phpmyadmin again. Or you can use Akeeba Backup, free or paid version.

I only asked for Profile Export/Import because I am working on a Development Server and a Live Server. Without the ability to export Profile settings, I will have to redo all the custom fields, and other tedious settings in the profile from my Dev to Live environment.

Thanks,

Jackson

Hello Jackson,

Yeah, perhaps for users who doesn't know how phpmyadmin works, an interface for this would definitely be a plus

That's a good idea Mark. It is better to appeal to the customer than the developer

Hi Jackson

Yes, one can import/export using phpmyadmin but my request was for the actual created content value without all the extras from the database similar to what you are requesting. Database import/export is good but not the best due to corruption or old fields you don't want. Import/export of the pure set value is the cleanest since you can carry it over to any install without problems. Some need the actual full backup for recovery and others need backup of data for portability. It's like using the Wordpress import/export function which is very useful.

It is actually a good idea perhaps Mark and his team can make the export/import available for all areas, like maybe a Site Admin needed to export Groups Settings or Data or just the Badges Settings or Data or ALL it will be tedious but it's granular.

Hmmm... I can't imagine how the export size will be including the images or it should be processed separately and manually from DB. Unless of course the site admin chooses to use S3 for file repository. Anyways, still a good idea for dumping DB data

Mark, this feature would be great for selling more subscriptions ;-)

The easier it is to set up new ES sites, the better!

You really should check this out. Siteground Staging Tool. It is perfect for what you are doing. We've started using it to push changes from our dev site, to or live site.
