Hi

When i share an Event to Facebook the events cover photo isnt being used or seen by Facebook Scraper, instead it picks an image off our website.

Would be good if the Events cover photo was used.

Could you look into this for me please.

Thanks
Hello,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is actually a public day off for us here. Is it possible for you to provide us with the FTP access to the site?

Hello,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is actually a public day off for us here. It looks like there's a bug in the event item page where it isn't retrieving the avatar for the primary open graph image but this was already fixed internally but your request seems like you want to use the event "cover" instead and the quick fix which I have applied for you is to add the code below into the file /components/com_easysocial/views/events/view.html.php at line 1322,

Hi

Thanks for helping me out, i seem to be getting this on Facebook Debugger

og:image was not defined, could not be downloaded or was not big enough. Please define a chosen image using the og:image metatag, and use an image that's at least 200x200px and is accessible from Facebook. Image 'http://revs-simracing.co.uk/images/MyPics/Alexandra/eyes.jpg' will be used instead.

So its still not showing the event Image, how do i fix this?

Thanks

Hello,

Which URL are you trying to share, can you paste the URL here? Did you click on the "Fetch new scrape information" button?

Sorry for late reply - been doing some testing with this.

If i select the event - copy the url and then put it into facebook debugger, the event shares, however, if i go to another event, i just get the url to our site with no pictures

this is from facebook

Input URL
Show existing scrape informationFetch new scrape information
When and how we last scraped the URL
Time Scraped 2 seconds ago
Response Code 200
Fetched URL http://revs-simracing.co.uk/index.php/events/item/153-rf2-seat-leon-cup-season-1-race-2
Canonical URL http://revs-simracing.co.uk/index.php/events/item/153-rf2-seat-leon-cup-season-1-race-2 (0 likes, 0 shares)
Server IP 192.99.34.23
These are the raw tags that we found
Meta Tag <meta property="og:url" content="http://revs-simracing.co.uk/index.php/events/item/153-rf2-seat-leon-cup-season-1-race-2" />
Meta Tag <meta property="og:type" content="article" />
Meta Tag <meta property="og:title" content="RF2 | Seat Leon Cup | Season 1 | Race 2" />
Meta Tag <meta property="og:description" content="RF2 | Seat Leon Cup | Season 1 | Race 2" />
Meta Tag <meta property="og:image" content="http://revs-simracing.co.uk/media/com_easysocial/photos/511/667/seat-leon-cup-league_large.jpg" />
Based on the raw tags, we constructed the following Open Graph properties
og:url http://revs-simracing.co.uk/index.php/events/item/153-rf2-seat-leon-cup-season-1-race-2
og:type article
og:title RF2 | Seat Leon Cup | Season 1 | Race 2
og:image
og:description RF2 | Seat Leon Cup | Season 1 | Race 2
og:updated_time 1424763771
When shared, this is what will be included

RF2 | Seat Leon Cup | Season 1 | Race 2
RF2 | Seat Leon Cup | Season 1 | Race 2
REVS-SIMRACING.CO.UK
Based on included and inferred properties, the above preview is what users will see when they share this url. See this in the share dialog.

I will continue to see if i can do anything from my end. Sharing on FB has always been an issue for me.

Hello P Hughes.

Can you provide us your backend access because the old access can't login to your site and can you tell us which events don't display event cover photo when using Facebook sharing

Hi

Site Details added.

It's all events, probably something up at my end but tried it on a laptop with my partners facebook account and it just shares Site URL.

Hello P Hughes,

I'm really sorry that delayed of this reply,

I have tested few time but I'm not very sure why the cover image will not show up in pop up

But when you click on "Share" button after pop up, it will still show the cover image on your Facebook timeline, check my video link : http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-02-25_1710.swf

Hi Arlex

Odd isnt it, but it works as such

Thanks for having a look.

Just as a matter of interest - When people register for an event can an email be sent to everyone who has registered or do you have to email people individually?

Cheers

Steve

Hello Steve,

I am really sorry but unfortunately right now it isn't possible to automatically send an email to everyone when a new event is created on the site
