I'm trying to add a user to an event as a guest via the back-end admin screen. Can this be done?

There are 'Invite Guests' and 'Approve Guests' button... I invited a person and then tried to 'approve' him with the 'approve guests' button but it doesn't seem to have any affect.

Should there be a 'Add Guests' button here.. or if not, how does 'Approve Guests' work?
Hello Andy,

I'm sorry for this inconvenience. The reason we don't allow admin to directly add guest to the event is because there might be a guest who don't want to be added to any event without their permission. However, you have a good point where in some cases admin need to mass add list of guests to the event. I will discuss this with our team. For now, I've attached a modified file. This will add the guests automatically when you invite them from backend. Please replace the attached file in: ../administrator/components/com_easysocial/controllers/events.php and let us know how it goes.

Hi Andy,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. Kindly please find my response to your inquiries below:

1. I'm trying to add a user to an event as a guest via the back-end admin screen. Can this be done?

Yes, you can add a user to an event that you have created on back end by:
1. Click Components->EasySocial->Events
2. Select the event->On Guest tab->Invite guests http://screencast.com/t/yu9Afs0U

2. There are 'Invite Guests' and 'Approve Guests' button... I invited a person and then tried to 'approve' him with the 'approve guests' button but it doesn't seem to have any affect.

To make it clear,the Invite Guest and Approve Guest are two different thing. The Invite Guest button actually act as you inviting someone to the event, as the user are still not going to answer either he/she want to be in the event or not, its kind of like notified the user, there is some event will occur.
As the Approve Guest button, the user that wanted to be in the event, have to request to join (applied for closed event only) http://screencast.com/t/LmUkhi9rEQg , and the user is still in pending status, until admin approved he/she by clicking the Approve Guest button http://screencast.com/t/8RzRfDyX2Q.

Hope this will help you. Have a nice day ahead Andy

Hi Fadhli,

Thanks for helping me understand this. So overall, it's IMPOSSIBLE currently for SuperAdmin to add a user directly via that back-end admin? It feels to me that it's missing a simple 'ADD GUEST' button.

I understand now the existing INVITING and APPROVING... but how on earth do I add a GUEST in cases where they are unable to do so themselves - or perhaps I'm given a manual list of attendees and asked as super admin to add existing user accounts to the event?

I'm scared I'll be told to put this on Voices?!?!?!

Thanks!
Andy

Hi Nick,

Thanks for the temporary work-around file.

Thanks for talking to the team about this. It should be just like the Groups back-end where you can instantly 'Add Users' to a group.

There are certainly going to be times when SuperAdmin will need the ability to add users to an event and not have to send them invites. It happens for me all the time.. we have online registrations where tech-happy people go and join the events.. but get lists of offline sign-ups to events which I, as SuperAdmin get asked to add manually to the events...

I'll add to Voices though for completeness.. here it is.. please vote!.... http://stackideas.com/voices/easysocial/item/1074

Keep up the awesome work!
