Thanks for fixing the Quick Post Module in 1.4.5... but one GREAT element seems to have changed.

As I mentioned in http://stackideas.com/forums/es-quick-post-module-not-loading-fully-working-as-intended it was AWESOME for driving member sign-ups that the quick post form used to appear to non-members... showing them what they are missing and enticing them in...

Now it seems the post button is fixed, but the form no longer shows at all if you're not logged in. Can that be restored to how it was.... so I guest user can see the form, and if (s)he tries to use it, they can the login pop-up?

That would be PERFECT for my home page... showing people straight away they can contribute instantly (if they sign in!!!!!)
Hey there,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

Thanks for your feedback, I already discuss with our developer regarding this, we will add an option from this module which user want to "Display form to public users" in next release version, so I believe everyone will accept this, because not all user like this module display on public user.

By the way, to temporary fix this, you can remove this checking code from JoomlaFolder\modules\mod_easysocial_quickpost\mod_easysocial_quickpost.php

if ($my->guest) {
return;
}

Hello Andy,

We didn't allow non-logged in user to be able to see it because we try to make this module as simple as possible. I agree with your opinion that it will attract guest to register to your site. Perhaps, you can add this to our Voices page and we will see what we can do about it. This seems like a very good addition to that module.

Hi Nik. I can add it to Voices (although it'll get lost amongst everything in there as it's not a major thing)... but my point really is this was a backwards step (in my opinion)... In EasySocial 1.4.4 it appeared to my guests. Suddenly in 1.4.5 it no longer does... so perhaps there's some code history of what was changed and it could be restored? Maybe it came out by mistake?

I just tried that temporary code hack... It kinda works, but if the guest types something as you'd expect them to, then they get a "Your story has been posted." confirmation before the login prompt appears....

So grateful if you could pass that on to the developer too in terms of suppressing that message until the login has been successful (so the ideal solution is the guest types something, then they get prompted to login, then the typed message is applied to the stream and they get their confirmation)

Thanks!

Actually thinking about it, if technically possible, probably best for the 'Login' box to appear as soon as the user, 'clicks into' the box to start typing.. reducing any risk that a typed message is lost if anything goes wrong with the register / sign-in steps...

Thanks for the heads up on this Andy but I really don't think this is a good user experience for the user though.

OK. You're the expert... my thinking though is it draws them into the community by showing them what's possible and warmly inviting them to get involved!

I personally feel that if the user is a guest, either the box should be hidden altogether or probably get's dimmed out and display a message overlaying on top like "Register to explore more"

Hey James,

We did added an option 'Display form to public users' from the module to allow site admin to decide whether need to display the form in public.

Thank you Arlex.

Question... why would the admin not just set the module to public?

Question 2... is it possible to allow guest to submit feed post without creating an account?

Hey Andy,

Question... why would the admin not just set the module to public?

You're right, configure the module access also can able to achieve this.

Question 2... is it possible to allow guest to submit feed post without creating an account?

Unfortunately that is not possible to do that.

By the way, it would be best if you can start a new thread on our forum if you have any other question.
