hi
so in my settings I have page to go to is "Login Redirection" -> same page, which works for EB etc where you sign in to read post.

However, when using the menu_id -> Login Layout, the default is to go to Dashboard. How do I change this default to User Profile instead?
Hey Darren,

If your redirection is configured to redirect to the same page, there is no way to configure the login layout to use a different redirection url.

Hi Darren,

You can try to download my attachment here and place it inside your /components/com_easysocial/views/login/ folder and see how it goes.

Great, thanks for the lead on this. What I did was :
change line 47 from
 $url = FRoute::dashboard(array(), false);

to
 $url = FRoute::profile(array(), false);

and line 76 from
 $return= FRoute::dashboard(array(), false);

to
 $return= FRoute::profile(array(), false);

What would be really good here is to have in settings->user->authentication a fallback default option, so that if the 'same page' does not work it goes to the general default menu option.

Also, I tried to create this as a template override so does not get overwritten on next update, but does not seem to be working?

Hi Darren,

Thank you for your kind suggestion on this. Perhaps you can voice out your idea in our easysocial voice page here so other user can vote for it, http://stackideas.com/voices/easysocial .

Regarding on the template override inquiry, template override can only work for theme file, not view file, which is in this case you are trying to override /views/ folder instead of /themes/ folder. Hope these can clarify the issue that you are facing now.
