We still don't have consistency between the 'share whats new' on the main community stream (screenshot attached) where you can easily upload and share files with the 'share files' icon, and the 'share whats new' on event stream, where it's missing.

My users are repeatedly shocked that they can't upload PDF's to support their events... most have PDF format flyers, application forms, and stuff like that.. but right now they just can't get them posted! So just bumping this back up onto the radar as it hasn't got into any of the recent ES updates.

Thanks!
Hello Andy,

You're welcome, thanks for take your time to clarification of your previous question.

Yes, we will consider to add the "Share file" icon in the group and event story panel in the future.

hello Andy,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.
That was different situation, you can upload the pdf file from event page file filter, check my screenshot below.

Hi Arlex.... yes but I have two issues with that approach that I'd really appreciate you guys considering....

1. Consistency of the interface... why an easy option in the main community stream, and then leave people searching for how to do it in the events section. The typical assumption is that 'ah it can't be done here'

2. Unfriendly forcing of login... If I recall rightly the method you show requires people to login to be able to access the file... we really need a way to present these files easily... why should someone have to login to see a flyer... turns some people away :-(

Would be good if other event owners can comment here... am assuming you all have the same issues with making PDF flyers and event promo documents available?

Hello Andy,

Thanks for your feedback, we will see if we can implement this in the future.

Unfortunately the group/event file attachment file is only available for registered user in current system.

But you can open this file and modify the code JoomlaFolder\components\com_easysocial\views\events\view.html.php

//Comment this line 1782 of code
FD::requireLogin();
//Replace to
//FD::requireLogin();

Regarding with your last question :
>> Do you mean that show the PDF flyers image in the event stream so that people can easy to see the content?

Hi Arlex... Thanks for your time on this one. I'll try that code tweak and thanks for considering future implementation.

Answering your question for clarification, my main issue was that non-logged in users browsing the event have to login to access any uploaded PDF content and I find that really turns people off by forcing them into the community at a time they might not want to join / bother logging in....

...that being said your comment about showing a snapshot of the PDF content would be a huge user-experience step forward (like gmail does with attachments).... as would allowing the uploader to use a friendly file name for display rather than the filename of the file.

Best Wishes and Thanks again.
