Can you help me understand a bit more about the 'FILE AS DATA SOURCE' option that shows in the Location custom field for events? What it is and how to use it?

I have turned off Google Maps because it doesn't cover my part of the world very well... my objective now is to offer users a short tailored pick-list of local locations for them to choose from.

It sounds like 'FILE AS DATA SOURCE' might achieve this for me. Alternatively I'm thinking I can use the COUNTRY drop-down and hack the countries listed with my list of locations? (If I do that, does EasySocial pick up and display the Country field as the location - hopefully it does)

Thanks!
Hello Andy,

To alter the regions, you can do so by accessing the "Regions" at the back end of EasySocial. As for the files, they are located in /administrator/components/com_easysocial/defaults/countries.json

Hello Andy,

The location field allows you to choose locations based on a file (Which we have added into EasySocial but it's hardcoded with its own list of country / states). Alternatively, we have also added a new "Regions" section which allows the field to pull location from the Regions area. The regions area is customizable and you can actually modify the list there.

OK that sounds like things I can work with to suit my location... can you direct me to where those Locations and Regions files are? (Presumably they are things I'd need to keep re-applying any changes post-Easy Social updates too?)

Thanks.

Great. That's AWESOME. Am now using the customisable 'Regions'..... very very nice! Thanks!

There was me thinking I'd be hacking files to get what I wanted.... but no, it's all there back-end of ES! Lovely.

Oh wow... and then you also have it linking to Google maps in the front-end. Nice! With ES Events, you've created a masterpiece within a masterpiece.
