Hi,

When typing messages on mobile in your inbox (conversations) the system automatically disables my auto correct and even my text suggestions. This has been an issue since before 1.4 and I was wondering if there was a way to resolve this? This is the only location I have found within the stack comps where such an issue occurs.

Thanks
Hi Fidel,

I have tested this locally and the auto correct in conversations seems to be working fine.

Would you like me to try on your site? If yes, which site do you want me to test on?

Hey Fidel,

I have already tested your site on an android device and it looks like there is auto suggestion/correct: http://take.ms/RmXHG

Very odd indeed. Maybe it's a Samsung issue?

As you can see in my screenshot, the suggestion bar isn't visible and the word isn't marked as an error. This only occurs when I go to conversations inbox and create a message or reply to existing messages, not when I start a conversation from a users profile via the icon.

Thanks

Hey Fidel,

Can you try removing the autocomplete line from the following file, then try typing in your existing conversations again?
JoomlaFolder/components/com_easysocial/themes/wireframe/conversations/default/default.php
http://take.ms/s1HHwV

If this works, you can also remove a similar line in the new conversation file:
JoomlaFolder/components/com_easysocial/themes/wireframe/conversations/compose/default.php http://take.ms/DDrfL

Let us know how it goes. Thanks.

Testing now. Apologies for the very late reply.

If this works, do I need to create template overrides? This issue is also occurring in docker quick post

Hey Fidel,

Yes you would have to create overrides. However before doing so, try updating to the latest version to perform the tests as the theme files may been modified in the newer version.

As for the docker's quick posting, are you referring to the story form(http://take.ms/Ant8d)? I'm not able to replicate this on android device.

Hey there,

I am still facing these issues with galaxy s7, could this be a device issue?

Also, for docker, I was referring to typing into the text fields when using quick post for story

Thanks

You are referring to the initial conversations issue? We do not have a Samsung Galaxy S7 to test but I will try test on other android devices again tomorrow.
Also, for docker, I was referring to typing into the text fields when using quick post for story
May I know if this is happening on the regular story form(non-docker) as well?

Can you provide more screenshots of the issue for reference purpose? Thanks.

Alright Fidel.

It would be best if you can help us test on other Android devices as well(non Samsung) to make sure its not Samsung related.

Keep us updated once you have the videos ready.

Here is a video of the issue. As you can see , conversations completely disables auto correct. The quick post from docker also disables it for some of the options

Hey Fidel,

I have tested the site on several android phones and also my iphone again and could not replicate the issue. I noticed that on those areas in the video, the suggestions are indeed showing on top of the keyboard of those devices(Pixel: http://take.ms/8bJf4, Galaxy S8: http://take.ms/AdgHE).

Have you check and make sure the related keyboard options are enabled in the keyboard settings?

After testing this for quite some time, from what I noticed, different keyboards may work differently(some don't even have suggestive text). Therefore, the issue is not related to EasySocial.

Hi,

As you can see in the video, my auto correct is turned on and works properly in some of the areas shown but gets automatically disabled in others. If it is working for you in every possible scenario then maybe the s7 edge doesnt like something about certain es areas

Hey Fidel,

I would love to help you out but I could not without having the S7 device.

Perhaps if you have other keyboards installed, you can try using them?

OK I will try that.

If you can somehow get your hands on an s7 at some point you can also test it on your end.

Thanks
