Hi,

I have not tried it but I thought it would be easier and save me time, is it possible to change the Conversations upload files path to a folder outside of the public_html or www? Will it still work?

Just asking for security.

Yep, there's also an alternative to upload it to Amazon S3 but again, I think the author is trying to prevent hotlinks or direct access to the files
