Closed Group Events are visible to public (Guests) on the site. Is this default behaviour?

Can we make it that Closed Group Events are not visible to all, but only to members?

see attached
Hi Andrew,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply. By default for closed group, user still can search it but they have to request to join the group and the user admin must approve them first before they can officially join the group. You can make a Invited only group, where this is not visible to public, and just visible to the invited user only

Apologies, but I was not referring to Groups but rather Closed Group Events.

Surely the Closed Group Events should not be visible or at least we should have the option to not include them on the public calendar....

Hi Andrew,

I am sorry for the inconvenience caused. I've tried to replicate this issue, seems I cannot reproduce it. It seems like the module it not appear on the https://www.opgroeigids.nl/community for public.

yes, it is not published for public. But, what I need to know is why Closed Group Events are visible to ALL members on the site? Closed Group Events should not be visible to all members only group members...

Hey Andrew,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply,

Yes, that was default behaviour as long as that is closed group, event or group event, it will appear on public.

Unfortunately that was not possible to make closed group event to only visible to group member at this point of time.

Thanks... but this is a major flaw in our opinion, sorry See, if you have many groups on the site and they all use the Group Events functionality to add all their events, then you will end up with a calendar on the site which would have far too many events and most of them would not be of interest to most of the site members as they only really care about their own group's events and can see the standard public events for anything else.

Closed Group events will always or at least most of the time be primarily for Group members and definitely not for public....

I really think this needs a change since you already have the standard events where users can create general events, and surely Group Events are meant for 'Group' events not public....

just our two cents worth of information

this is quite a major issue for us.... would love a change on this...

That was not easy to change this behaviour in faster way, what my suggest is turn off this option from backend > Easysocial > settings > event > Include Group Events in Listing - NO, then it will no longer display group event in the calendar.

If you really want to change this behaviour, it would be best if you can submit a feature request regarding this in our voice page -> http://stackideas.com/voices/easysocial , so everyone else could vote for it, the more people request on this, and we will priority consider it.
