How does Applications works by the way? Are there applications designed to show up only in Profile, Groups, Dashboard? If that's the case, the description should say that this application will only appear in Profile, but isn't that confusing?

LAC Infosys,

There is definitely some confusion for users about the Apps if they are pre-installed. This should be a discussion item that gets more attention as it is a USER issue that comes up time and time again.

If the user of the site clicks on the Applications link in the Frosty Theme, then this appears below.

Sorry, but there are no apps installed yet.

I am going to make a change to the language Override for Sorry, but there are no apps installed yet. and I am going to change it to something like:

The Apps have been pre-installed by the Community Administrator. You will find them in the left-sidebar of the Dashboard.

This way if someone clicks on Applications, or My Apps, or Browse Apps, then the user will get a message that isn't so cryptic.

Apps are in the Dashboard Newsfeed and the Groups Newsfeed left-sidebar so maybe the text should read.

The Apps have been pre-installed by the Community Administrator. You will find them in the Dashboard or Groups left-sidebar.

Hello,

Some apps are meant to appear on the profile and some the dashboard. The best example would be the "Tasks" app for users. You don't want to display your private and personal tasks to the public so it wouldn't make sense to display them on your profile

Hi Mark,

Yes, I do understand it now but it kind of does create confusion for Users don't you think? Users will always think of they're installing an App but when they see the Application Filter it says "No Apps installed yet."

Just a maybe, when you try to install an Application, maybe it would set an understanding if the UI is not just a simple list of Applications available to users but a more organized list. Like Dashboard Applications, Profile Applications, etc and a brief description. I think that way it tells the users oh these apps are visible and for Dashboards or Profiles or Groups. Just a thought.

Thanks!

"EasySocial is a treasure chest of liquid gold!"

Feedback is always important to refine software. As a loyal customer it is good to see a discussion on ways to refine the product. I believe many customers are like me - you want to promote the quality and excellence of the product, and as time goes by EasySocial will continue to rate like one of the finest Scotch Whiskeys in the World.

The best bottles of Scotch Whiskey score between 90-100 on the judges' scale, but a few receive special recognition: Gold Outstanding.

The StackIdeas Team development efforts on each new version of EasySocial rates between a 95-100 on my Judge Scale. Gold Outstanding and the product is less than ONE YEAR OLD.

The finest Scotch Whiskeys take many years of aging to become world class.

Just imagine where StackIdeas' EasySocial, EasyBlog, and EasyDiscuss products will be in a few years?
