Hi SI Team

Tried updating using the standard update button in the Joomla back end in the ES component.
Was instructed to go to the SI downloads section where I downloaded the launcher package for beginners.
I then proceed to my Joomla back end and started the upload there.

But got stuck at "initializing database"

I can access the back end but the front end is throwing the following error:

Call to a member function getType() on null

I did an Akeeba back up of the site before attempting to update to ES 3.01

kindly advise

Paul
Hi Paul,

I have re-installed EasySocial 3.0 on your site and it seems like the installation went fine without any error. I also have updated your Docker plugin and quickposting plugin to latest version to make it compatible with EasySocial 3.

By the way, it seems like you have made some sort of template override in your Vanilla template and the override is causing the error when I'm trying to access the dashboard as a guest. I have renamed the following file from your template for now, templates/vanilla/html/com_easysocial/dashboard/guests/default.php .

Please have a look.

Thanks for this. After clearing some cache it looks as if things are in the process of returning to normal. There is still some minor weirdness but I suspect that this has to do with the cache being cleared. I will observe further. Thanks.

Off the top of my head I am not sure what is going on here.
Are you saying that the file:
templates/vanilla/html/com_easysocial/dashboard/guests/default.php
was called something else?
And you have now set the name back to
templates/vanilla/html/com_easysocial/dashboard/guests/default.php

?

thanks

Hi Paul,

I am sorry for the confusion here. In original Vanilla installer, there are no template override for the following path, templates/vanilla/html/com_easysocial/dashboard/guests/default.php but the override is exists on your site. Hence we assume that you have made some sort of template override before the upgrade of EasySocial and Vanilla.

However the override is causing the error due to incompatibility code with ES 3.0, hence I have temporary renamed it to default.php_bak, http://take.ms/QVzym .

Hope these help.

HI Ezrul

Honestly, I have not got a clue what that file is but I do not see anything breaking as of now.

If something breaks I will have a closer look at it.

Could you do me a favor and navigate to a few random pages on my site and tell me if the Vanilla template loads with different colours sometimes?

Is there a Vanilla template due?

thanks

Paul

Hi Paul,

I do noticed that before. It seems like it was caused by the following plugin, System - JCH Optimize Pro . After I disabled it everything seems to be working correctly as it is. Refer my video link here, http://take.ms/OOKml .

Is there a Vanilla template due?

We already released a compatible version of Vanilla template short after the release of EasySocial 3.0. You can check it out at our apps store here, https://stackideas.com/apps/item/3401-vanilla .
