Hi,

We're facing issues with upgrade to ES1.4.3 from ES 1.3.30.
1) We've uploaded new installer and tried.
2)To circumvent issues we faced last time we deleted com_easysocial folder in /var/www/html/components.

No progress. Installation stuck @ 15%. Refer attachment. Included site details and pls. refer to detailed comments in "Optional Information" section for site operations.

Appreciate help with installation process.

Thx.
Hi Juz,

I am sorry for the misunderstanding here. May I know if the previous issue was related with file copy error? It might due to the different error on your case previously since there is no possible way for us to find a workaround on this error without having full access to your root folder.

By the way the "-1 Copy Failed" error is a common Joomla error when your site's file or folders permission are not configured correctly for some reason. I know by logic changing the permission to 777 should work but in your case it clearly does not. Please contact your webhoster regarding your issue and make sure your hosting apply a chown for all files and folders to the correct owners.

Please advise.

Hi Juz,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply.

It seems like there are some sort of permission issue with your joomla during the installation of easysocial as it returning the following error during the files copy process,
-1 Copy file failed

I believe this is related with the tight security of your SFTP where it require specific method in order to copy or edit the file. Perhaps you can try to temporary disable this security features and then try to perform the installation again and see how it goes.

Hi Ezrul,

We faced this issue in the past [post:ES 1.3.30 update hangs. Pls. help asap.] but was resolved. Wasn't related to security/write permissions as much as to the code hacks we'd made. However, got resolved at that time with the solution Mark presented. This time, before upgrade we went ahead and deleted /components/com_easysocial folder [first tried without deleting as well but didn't work] but didn't work.

When we started the ES 1.4.3 update using new installer the screen shows all directory permissions as writable [think Step 2]. Are there some new checks added to ES 1.4.3 installer? There may be too many security features to disable and I'm not sure if it's related to security permissions. Is it possible to know which file/directory write operation is failing or what else should be writable besides /var/www/html.

Thx.
Juz
