Best regards,

Hello,

- I did the Es 1.2.8 upgrade , then stuck on 38% (Initializing User Applications .........Initializing)

I not sure if this is related or not but I do encountered before after i installed a app, the app folders permission changed and when I try to perform the ugrade, the installation stucked at 'initializing user apps...'. I then reset the folder permission and it fixed my issues.

Hope this help and have a nice day
Sam

Hi Arlex,

I've restored the site (few hours ago backup) and try again the installation, now it works ...

I've done few things after the last backup and before the ES installation with stuck on 38%, please advise if you have any clues that may caused the issue:
(While still at 1.2.7)
- Installed Komento latest version
- did some configuration for Komento with K2 integration
- installed and published the Komento App for ES
- In ES, scanned Badges
- In ES, scanned Point / achievement rules (and found few rules with raw string (not translated string))
- I did the Es 1.2.8 upgrade , then stuck on 38% (Initializing User Applications .........Initializing)

Do you have any clues that caused the issue? I will try to avoid this in future.

Best regards,
Alfred / Dreamonde

Hello Alfred,

Hm, I probably think that there's some missing tables but our maintenance script should automatically fix this. How did you perform the upgrade?

I tried with the auto upgrade the 1st time, after stucking on 38%, I downloaded the manual installer from stackideas.com and try again, same problem. I just worry it's caused by any conflict with Komento (or it's apps, badges, rules) because I just install this new items before the upgrade and after the latest backup. (about 2 hours gap)

Hi Sam,

Thanks for your sharing and this is still possible. As I remember I've modify manually for some files for suggest quickfix from this forum. Maybe I just forgot to revert the file permission thereafter.

I still suggest if possible from your "Installer" to prompt any error message for installation failure (eg: folder permission); at least if similar issue is happening, I can fix myself.

Thanks a lot and have a nice and Happy Easter.

Best regards,

Hello Alfred,

EasySocial does check for permission issues on the second step during installation and it should actually prompt you about permission issues.

Hi Mark,

I guess the checking only apply to folder permission right? let me explain:

- Webserver have full acces rights to folder A
- a file in A folder was modified and changed to other owner, so the web-server cannot write to the file;

how is the installer react if trying to write to a folder with full access right, but no access right to a particular file? (will prompt any error ? or just hang like my case?)

Thanks.

Is your error reporting on? If yes, then the above will throw php error

Hi Sam,

My bad.... I didn't check before the resstoration =,= Okay still I have it installed probably already, I don't want to drain up your team resources to find out this "mystery" ... anyway, thanks for helping and giving hints and I will ensure the folder / files permission next time.

Have a nice weekend.

Best regards, Alfred
