Our readers getting a sorry somthing went wrong error message when they try to comment
I don't know how to fix this issue.
Sometimes it displays error, sometimes - no they're telling me

Site displays error:
Status:
200
Status Text:
OK

I have tried change to Joomla default template but the issue is not solved.

We're in a middle of an event so hope you guys can help us solve this issue fast.

Thanks.

Anders
Hello Anders,

I believe not only Komento that having this issue. If you try to login to your site using Joomla Login, you will not logged in. o test this, you have to disable this Easysocial plugin: http://screen.stackideas.com/2014-12-10_1135.png so that it won't redirect you to Easysocial login page when you accessing Joomla login. Then, go this URL and login: http://www.queertownabbey.com/index.php?option=com_users&views=login Means that Joomla also got affected by this issue.

Hello Anders,

I've checked your site and seems like your $live_site in configuration.php is not empty. Can you make it empty like shown below:

$live_site=''

Please give it a try first.

Hello Anders,

The login credentials doesn't seem to work any longer. Can you please advise? Also, there seems to be some script issues with cloudflare on the site. Can you please temporarily disable Cloudflare?

Hello Anders,

I've re-checked your site and I saw this: http://screen.stackideas.com/2014-12-08_1635.png . These 3 values should not be the same. I'm afraid that this issue is caused by the time of your joomla and mysql is not same. As you can replicate with the login in Joomla, which will never let you logged in. http://www.queertownabbey.com/index.php?option=com_users&views=login .

Hello Anders,

We don't want to messed up with your cpanel. All you can do is consult with your server hosting. We suspect that your server time has changed or your time setting in your mysql server. Make sure that time setting that you have set in your server is tally with your mysql.

I have checked the Database version from your Joomla! administrator end -> System -> System Information it is currently showing the correct version of MySQL installed on yoru server:

Code:
Database Version 5.5.31-30.3-log

I have then recreated the issue but I am not finding any information in the server logs on what could be causing it. If you want we can set the server date timezone to which one you like. If this suits please provide us with the timezone which you want us to set.

Best regards,
Anders

Hello Anders,

I believe you are using Chicago timezone for your server setting. You might want to ask them to follow your timezone and see how it goes.

Hello,

Here is latest reply from our host

I have followed your instructions and this popup immediately shows up: http://awesomescreenshot.com/0933zpmq3a

I have checked the server logs for any entries that would suggest what the problem is but I am afraid that there is nothing logged that would suggest a problem when I try to post the comment. Thus I believe that the problem is indeed produced by the Komento component and it is best to discuss the case with them.

Do I have to change comment component?

Right now I don't do anything else than replying to angry readers.

Best regards,

Anders

Hello Anders,

I am really having a hard time trying to reproduce this issue. Are you using the same user account as we are using to test this? Any particular URLs which I can access to try to reproduce this issue?

Okay, was able to reproduce this and I think I found the problem. There seems to be some redirection going on in the site, http://screen.stackideas.com/2014-12-09_0246.png . See the "303 Other" statuses. For some reasons your site is redirecting the user to /component/komento/ when a new comment post is made as a guest.

Do you have any redirection going on in the site? When I tried to access http://www.queertownabbey.com/?option=com_komento , it looks like your site is redirecting me to http://www.queertownabbey.com/

From our host

I believe that you would like for us to answer that question, so I checked and yes - you have a redirection set up for your website to be opened with www and it is set by the following rules in the .htaccess file:

Code:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^queertownabbey.com [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.queertownabbey.com/$1 [L,R=301]

Final reply from our host

I do not believe that the redirect rules are the cause of the problem as they are merely adding www in front of the domain name on your pages. I am afraid I cannot inform you why are the redirects causing the problem with your component and you should ask the developers of the component to take a look. To be hones this is the first time we have heard of a component not being able to work by such redirects, so the problem is highly unlikely to be caused by this.

It seems that Komento is not working with the cloudflare service.

When I enable Development Mode in cloudflare, commenting is working without any problems.

Hello Anders,

I have discussed this with Nik and apparently, when your cloudflare services are enabled. I have a strong feeling that because cloudflare acts as a "proxy" layer, it somehow confuses Joomla and the session data.

Hello Nick,

Can this be a server related issue since it sometimes displays the error and sometimes it don't?

Obviously something must be wrong since I'm getting complaints

Hello Anders,

I believe this could be an issue with the way cloudflare works and the way the proxying works. When checking your site, cloudflare doesn't seem to be enabled now and I did not hit any errors at all after posting several comments.
