The entry layout is showing font size and print and subscribe to this post on the entry layout, but in the back end it is NOT selected. I do NOT want it to show. Why is it showing if its not checked?

It looks like your "Challenges" category isn't inheriting from the global views settings. I have configured it to inherit from the global view settings and it should respect the settings now.
