Hi SI Team

I am writing some simple instructions for another Blogger to Blog posts on my Site.
Just want to be sure that I have no missed something.

I go to create a new blog post in EB 5 and as long as I am just entering one block of text every thing is OK. But once I add something else, image, video, link etc I need to

a) Switch to the Block page
b) Select the Block that I want to use
c) Switch back to the post I am writing
d) Select the area I want to place the Block and edit!

That is obviously 4 steps.
Is there a quicker way of doing this?

Just want to double check

thanks

Paul
Hello Paul,

Thanks for the suggestion. In order to change the position of the blocks, we need to redo most of the codes in composer. However, we will discuss this and see how it goes.

Hey Paul,

Yes, that is the correct way of utilizing the new composer It seems that it requires more step but it is definitely much easier to manage than requiring your authors to mess with html codes to get what they want

Hi Mark

Yes I though as much.
Just my 2 cents.
Would be better to have the Blocks some where on the right hand side as in screen shot below?
If i have a complex long post with lots of elements this gets a little tedious!
Also whilst I like the composer I have a 16:9 computer screen that I have discovered is cool if I turn it though 90 degrees
Love the templates by the way

thanks

Paul

Hi Nik

Please discuss.
I hate to say it but this is the biggest problem with EB 5 that I see.
When I think about it is really closer to 5/6 steps!!!

a) Switch to the Block page
b) Find the Block I want to use
c) Select the Block that I want to use
d) Switch back to the post I am writing
e) Find the area where I am posting to
f) Select the area I want to place the Block and edit!

In short switching one screen to another looking, scrolling and clicking is IMHO just silly.

Here is a case in point:

http://finalbug.net/blog/entry/471-nle-tracks-roles-part-1-of-3

There are 3 videos in there, 9 Screen Shots, 6 Text Blocks, 4 Page breaks, 3 links etc

I know nothing about code but from an implementation perspective:

Have the Blocks section on the right hand side of the composer.
Click the back ground/neutral place to see all available Block.
Click the Block inserted in the Composer to get it parameters.

And yes the Templates are awesome

best

@ Paul

I also need to write a how-to article for the composer and I checked the links you posted then browsed your website

It is important for you to know the Profile menu link http://finalbug.net/my-profile-here is considered as a phishing link by Kaspersky...

Regards

I have to write it, I haven't started yet...

My site will require a of lot of how-to's for the many different components and the countless features.

I will probably write all of them and possibly add videos in
Freestyle FAQ V3 (only faqs component)
http://demo.freestyle-joomla.com/products/support-components/faqs-v3
or in
Freestyle Support (complete support component, Knowledge Base, Faqs, Ticket System, Glossary, Announcements,...)
http://demo.freestyle-joomla.com/products/support-components/support-portal

At the moment only FAQ V3 supports subcategories for faqs but the Freestyle Support next release should also come with subcategories for faqs.

The main and demo sites' template of Freestyle-Joomla is an old one but don't be afraid they have configuration options to adapt the display to any template style.
I have them installed on a BS3 template and it fits perfectly.

The how-to write a blog article will also be linked to a real EB5 article or I will use a module to display it on the same page.

I used these components for the first time in 2009
I just checked again the demo and noticed not all layouts have a demo.
You can have a better display/layout/functionalities than the ones listed there

I also forget to mention... YOODIY
This is a GREAT component, unfortunately for me the BS3 support will only come at the end of this year or beginning 2016
YooDIY also has an integration with Komento and EasySocial.
http://yoodiy.com
Have test drive with that one too !
