I'm using JFBConnect and the mini-registration process based on EasySocial profile registrations to allow my users to enter any required profile information not already provided through their social account.

Because the password is essentially useless when you log in with social, I would like to be able to pre-populate and hide the password field during the registration process. This process works well with other fields (username, email, birthday, gender, etc), but will not work with passwords.

It seems that the folks at SourceCoast are willing to assist here, but the EasySocial registration process may need to be modified to support this feature.
JFBConnect Support Discussion

Could you add a feature request to support password pre-population and allow the password/confirm fields to be hidden when registering via social/JFBConnect?

Thanks,
Kevin
Hi,

It is not safe to "prepopulate" password, hence it was intentionally omitted in our codes.

This is evident in various site's registration process. If you were to refresh the page or if the page returns an error, all other field will be filled in except password field, which requires user to reenter password again.

1. As mentioned, the password field in Social Registration is optional. If we were to hide it, then user who want to enter a password there will not have the ability to do so. Perhaps what we need here is a word "optional" on the field to indicate so.

2. This is as is currently.

Hello Kevin,

Hm, to be frank with you I am not too sure about what you are trying to achieve here. The "Password" field is actually optional and the user doesn't need to enter the password unless if they want to. By setting a password, they can also login to the site with their normal login credentials.

I am trying to account for the following 2 scenarios. If there is a better way to do this or an existing config option that I can leverage, please let me know.

1. Social Registration - when the user chooses to register via their social network, hide the password field (optional, pre-populated, whatever is needed to ensure it does not appear).
2. Site Registration - allow the user to specify email and password to be used a login credentials. In this scenario, the password should be required.

Does this help clarify?

Thanks,
Kevin
