If a user posts something user their mobile device and they use the emojis on the devices keyboard, they show okay as they are entered, but then when the post is published they change to just showing as ?
Hi there,

It should shown as it should if and only if you database support utf8mb4. Can you check with your current web hosting service provider whether your current database support this collation or not. Here where they should make them to urf8mb4 as you can see here http://take.ms/6FEKb

If problem still persisted, can you provide us with your database access so that we can further check this issues. Please advice.

We are finding the same behaviour on our test site and live site. For both of them it shows as utf8mb4_unicode_ci

I've added info for the test site under "Site Details" tab.

1. The phpmyadmin access which you have provided is for the database faepun but your live site's database is faenet5_Joomla_FaeNet

2. When I try to access your test site, https://test.faenet.org/administrator/index.php it throws an Internal Server Error

Very odd, we didn't change anything on the test site database. Anyway, yes it seems to work fine there now but for the live site it's still showing ?? I will make sure you have access info for our live site but please be aware it's live!

Hi there,

Seems like maybe there are maintenance scripts that might not be executed on your end currently. I have executed them on your site and it should works as it should now. Please give it a check and see how it goes.

Thanks, that seems to have fixed it. For reference, how to we get to see what you found to be the issue? (In case we need to run again on rebuilding test sites etc)

Hi there,

For reference, how to we get to see what you found to be the issue? (In case we need to run again on rebuilding test sites etc)

Actually, it not that i found the issues, but commonly is because of the maintenance scripts didnt run while you update/install your components.

You can try to reinstall them again or you can manually run them by accessing this page https://faenet.org/administrator/index.php?option=com_easysociaL&view=maintenance and run those necessary scripts.
