hi.
right now there is no option to embed videos from EasySocial in EasyBlog posts. but i need this and want to ask if there is any workaround out there. maybe some other user have already setup some custom modifications to get this to run!?

besides this i want to promote the feature request to implement this soon as possible:

@ nobster if it helps the way I do this as of now is with Vimeo but I guess the same works for YouTube.

In ES post the video with the link
In EB ust the HTML block and insert the same video with HTML embedded code.

So yes I am posting the same video twice in different ways in different components!?!

Maybe not really what you are looking for?

Thank you very much Paul for your input
I did that before with youtube videos
the thing is, since i have announced in my community that the users could also upload there own videos instead use a 3rd party video provider, they also want to include their videos in their blog posts which I also understand. so i need to embed videos own encoded videos from ES
hopefully stackideas came up with a solution

Hi n00bster,

Unfortunately, there is no simple workaround that you can use currently, which means users have to reupload those videos in EasyBlog.

Thank you Raymond to jump in here.

would it be maybe possible to include a easysocial self encoded video in an easyblog html block?
i'm trying this right now but have no luck so far to get it to work.

my workaround right now is to copy paste in a HTML BLOCK:

<video width="320" height="240" controls>
<source type="video/mp4" src="https://domain.com/media/com_easysocial/videos/285/5e257ea8.mp4">
Your browser does not support the video tag.
</video>

it works quite easy with html5. dear stackteam why do you need so long to embed ES videos in EB?
I, the n00bster, also managed it

Hey n00bster,

I was going to suggest the copy paste workaround but I imagine some users may not find this simple. You would have to inform your users how to do this if that is the case.

If you want, you can also pre load those html codes in the html block by template overriding the html block theme file below.
JoomlaFolder/components/com_easyblog/themes/wireframe/composer/blocks/handlers/html/html.php http://take.ms/momUl
This means your users just have to get the video file path.

Thank you Raymond.

the workaround works great if you know your way around. but my members are not admins or strongly web affine.
so i won't announce it as an official possibility in my community. it's an emergency solution for important blogs.

on the long term side we need this implemented in EasyBlog and EasyDiscuss - the solution must be as member-friendly as possible, i.e. self-explanatory. it is your turn stackideas

You're most welcome n00bster.

If you need the feature urgently, you can always request a quote for us to prioritize, implement this on your site and include it in the core files.

Otherwise, we will have to wait and see if it's going to be included in future releases.
