I am writing regarding email privacy settings.

As I understand profile account info like email is not shared with anyone in no way (even if "Who can view my other items" is set to - everybody), email is visible just for admin of the site.

As I attached the picture, the user could think that his email address is visible for everybody.

I am afraid of situation when user registers, visits the site for months, then he looks into account settings (and sees that his email address was visible for everybody all that time!! I think he might be shocked. I, as admin would need some time to convince him that his email address was not actually shared with everybody all that time.

I would greatly appreciate possibility do not show privacy setting at all for email field as it is for password so that there would be no confusion.
Hello Dalia,

Hm, not sure if I understand you here but if the user sets the e-mail to be visible by everyone, then when you view the "More info" area about the user, you should see the e-mail actually.

I tried both on my site and on http://demo.stackideas.com - email is not visible.

For example I'll attach demo sample.

If email is supposed to be shared (visible for others), then I think there is a request.

I believe that 95% of my users would not change default privacy settings, so it is important for me how to set it by default. I would like to do it like this:

Name - shared with friends
Username - shared with everyone
Email - shared with friends
Gender - shared with everyone

Is it possible to do it?

Hm, this is odd because I can view it on my end. What about the field settings for the "Views" tab? Is it enabled ?

Oh, now it's clear for me. "View" tab setting was set to NO.

So now the question or future request is only left if it's possible to set different default privacy settings for different fields (name, email, gender, birthday).

As I imported lots of users from joomla 1.5 site, users will not have possibility to set their privacy settings until they register to new site and see this option. If I set in backend default privacy "Who can view my other items: Everybody" - so some users might be shocked that their email was shared with everybody all that time. If I set "Who can view my other items: Only me" - none of the information, even gender would be visible for others, that's not Ok for me as admin - users would not bother change it...

Hello Dalia,

Thanks, we'll consider this in 1.3 or later because right now our hands are full for EasySocial 1.2
