We have Easyblog version 6.0.6 and our Email Posting is no longer connecting to Exchange mail after 7/23/22. The issue is that Microsoft is no longer going to support POP3 and IMAP connections for mail to Office365 and is automatically disabling the feature in tenants. Microsoft is requiring a modern authentication connection be used for security.

Is there a patch or update for Easy Blog that will add that modern authentication option for mail available, or coming out. If so, where can we download?
Hi Anthony,

I have looked around for some information regarding this and found that this is most likely going to be a considerable change to EasyBlog's mailbox posting feature. There is no patch for this modern authentication currently, but we will investigate and evaluate this further.

As a temporary solution, we created a Gmail account to use with email posting. When I click the "Run" button to test connection, I get "Retrying PLAIN authentication after [AUTHENTICATIONFAILED] Invalid credentials (Failure)". Please see attached screenshot. I have checked the Username and Password and they are correct. Any ideas why authentication fails? Please note: this server is an internal Intranet and is behind a firewall. Could this be the reason it fails? 2022-08-01_13-49-46.png

Hey Anthony,

You can refer to this link for some hints: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/31186552/php-imap-open-authenticationfailed-for-imap-gmail-com

Can you check if your Allow less secure apps is set to ON?

Apparently, Google no longer supports "Less secure app access." Here is a link to their help page: https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/6010255?hl=en&utm_source=google-account&utm_medium=profile-less-secure-apps-cardhttps://support.google.com/accounts/answer/6010255?hl=en&utm_source=google-account&utm_medium=profile-less-secure-apps-card.

It does look like Google will block non-SSL calls, and since this is an internal server behind a firewall, there is no SSL.

Hey Anthony,

Strange, I am still able to connect in my local instance with 'Less secure app access' still turned on in my account. Do you hit the same issue if you try on a non-intranet site with identical configuration?

I also find that this method works as an alternative to using the email account password.

Raymond, your last suggestion, 2-factor authentication, worked! I am now able to send email to our gmail account and it gets posted to our internal blog. Thank you very much for your help!
