Yes, that is possible to moderate those discussion import from the mailbox, you can check my attached screenshot below how to setup.

And how the moderator see those moderation discussion on frontend, hope this will help.

From the screenshots, I could see that what I wanted was possible.
I eventually found that my problem was in the ACL settings, where the Administrator was not allowed to moderate from the front end.
Changing this setting resolved the problem.
