The emails sent to a specific mail address are not getting posted to easydiscuss

We have done the following
1. Created an email address, i.e. example xyz@abc.com
2. In Setting | General | Email Parser
Enabled email parsing for xyz@abc.com with password
3. Used URL below to test IMAP connectivity
http://www.anta.net/misc/telnet-troubleshooting/imap.shtml
and it shows me 3 unread emails on xyz@abc.com
4. If I run the cron URL then I get the message
Email batch process finished.
Connecting to: xyz@abc.com

I also went to the Uncategorised category and there is a Category Email Parser. If I enter the same email xyz@abc.com & password at category level, then running cron program gives me message
Email batch process finished.
Connecting to: xyz@abc.com
Connecting to: xyz@abc.com

You will notice that now the parsing happens twice, once at site level from Setting/General/Mail Parser and then again at category level. Yet, no post is created despite there being unread emails in inbox.

I have checked & ensured that the email sender has permission to write into uncategoried category
Note- actual discussion email has been replaced by xyz@abc.com in the above example

Hey Anil,

I am really sorry that delay of this reply,

After troubleshoot long time ago, it seems like your mail mail server certificate is not valid, this is what I getting the debug result :

[0]=> string(133) "Certificate failure for host.apps2fusion.com: self signed certificate: /CN=host.apps2fusion.com/emailAddress=ssl@host.apps2fusion.com"


After that I disabled ` Use SSL` and `Validate Certificates` option from email parser settings, then I hitting this error :
[CLOSED] IMAP connection broken (server response)


Then I noticed you using that PORT number is not valid, so I change it 993 to 143 , it should work fine now, can you give it a try now?

This is brilliant troubleshooting

In email configuration, you have a test button to test connectivity

It should try to validate such issues as well, if possible

We haven't tested this yet as I am out n about, but sounds promising, thanks.

Can we create one email address per easy discuss category ?

So, if email goes to discuss.uncat@stackideas.com then posting goes automatically to uncat category

If new email goes to discuss.abc@stackideas.com then new post is auto posted to category abc

N likewise another email for another category

Is that possible ?

Also, can people subscribe to a specific category for being notified as opposed to subscribing at site level ?

Hey Anil,

If you want to configure such behavior, you then need to configure this on the category level. Go to Categories > [Click category] and under the "Category email parser" configure it accordingly

Now i activate email parser for category " Fusion HCM Functional " and assign emailid "discuss.hcm@apps2fusion.com"

When user send email to discuss.hcm@apps2fusion.com its automatically create post in under category "Fusion HCM Functional"

if user send email with attachments that create post but images inside mail are not open.

Inline image - shown but not open
image attached - shown but not open
PDF file - not shown in post
DOC file - not shown in post

Hey Anil,

I am really sorry that delay of this reply,

I am still investigate on the image pop up issue in your site.

By the way, I already clarify with our developer regarding this if the user upload these attachment(pdf or docx) file through email, we will just parse in the image attachment in discussion page.

The reason why is because that was some email attachment encrypted security from email provider (e.g PDF, ZIP, Word or Excel format), these attachment format file will made this as password protected file, so we unable to fetch these format attachment file from email in discussion post.

Unless you attach the PDF or docx format file in the discussion page.

So that we know the capabilities and limitations then we can work around that

So only docx and pdf supported
Or JPEG and PNG as well ?

If upload the attachment via email -> support only image format e.g. jpg, jpeg, png, and etc.

If upload the attachment on the browser discussion ask question page -> support e.g. pdf, docx, and image format.

After investigated, it seems like your current template conflict with Easydiscuss pop up, if I switch to Joomla default template `Protostar` it work fine. Perhaps you can consult with your current template provider regarding this?

it seems I have the same issue. I put one email for general settings email parser
general@email.com put to Uncategorized
, and another email for a category.
catA@email.com ->categoryA
nothing happens when I send an email to catA@email.com

but now each mail send to general@email.com is put to catA...!
