Hello,

I've recently set up email notifications from EasyDiscuss which I'm really pleased with- thanks!

The only problem is that in Outlook, they are loading incredibly slowly and often crashing the whole thing... This is not the case for email notifications from EasyBlog, so I figure it must be a file of files within EasyDiscuss which are causing the problem. Have you heard of this sort of problem before? Do you have any idea where I could alter the html (ie compress it so it loads faster) or something similar?

Thanks very much!
hello Rachel Brown,

Sorry for late reply to this,
It seems like no user mention about this.
Do you mean that when you trying to open the email notification from your outlook then it loading extremely slow?
If yes, can you provide us with your Joomla backend and FTP access so we can better have a check on this? Please advise.

Hello, not a problem for the late reply - it wasn't late!

What I mean is that when I open the email notification in Outlook, it continues loading for a very long time until the content is visible.

I forgot to mention, I cannot give you backend/ftp access... sorry . However I'm hoping you can just give me some general advice, please? For example, in which file can I change the html that loads within the email? I'm thinking if I shorten it, perhaps it won't take as long to load.

NB to my knowledge, this is happening for ALL email types generated by EasyDiscuss. The time is takes to load an email generated by EasyDiscuss compared to EasyBlog is noticeably different.. around 1 minute for EasyDiscuss and instantaneous for EasyBlog. I'm surprised to hear that no one has mentioned this before...

Thanks!

Hello Rachel,

This could possibly be because the "Send email on page load" option is enabled instead of a cron job. When you access EasyDiscuss, it will try to send emails (If you enabled that option). It's best to use a cronjob for triggering mail sending.

Hello Rachel Brown,

Sorry for late reply to this,
You can disable this option from your backend > Easydiscuss > setting > General > Mail tab > Send email when the page loads - NO
Then set up the cronjob in your site follow this documentation.
-> http://stackideas.com/docs/easydiscuss/cronjobs/setting-up-cronjobs-in-cpanel
If you need further assistance, is it possible provide us with your Joomla backend and Cpanel access as well? Please advise.
*You can put the information in the optional information field below(SITE DETAILS). Don't worry about privacy. Only Support team can view the information.

hello Rachel Brown,

Sorry for late reply to this,
For the Cpanel access through the browser can access in your Joomla root folder file and setup the cronjob from there.
Example : http://domainname.com/cpanel
Can you consult regarding this with your webhosting provider? Because different webhosting different kind of the access.

Does your web hosting provider provides you with shell access? If you can provide us with the shell access we can set this up for you

Hello, my apologies for the late response! We set up cronjob but this has had no effect. My developers have advised that they think it's to do with the large amount of html attempting to load within the EasyDiscuss emails (referencing some external css, I believe). This is noticeably different from emails generated through EasyBlog, which don't seem to reference css (see examples below, which show the source of each).

Can you advise without backend access if/how I can shorten the html so that it loads faster?

Thank you.

Hello Rachel Brown,

Sorry for late reply to this,
Actually check on this we need your site access so we can investigate what issues causing this.
By the way, can you try disable this Use HTML format for emails from your backend > Easydiscuss > setting > workflow > maintenance and see how it goes?
