Hello,
when someone post a comment to a reply, no email notification is ever triggered for the reply's author, only onsite notifications are triggered, is this normal or am I missing some configuration?

Thank you
Hey Niccolo,

Can you please check and see if the option, http://take.ms/YRCx7D is enabled? If it is enabled, posting a comment would notify the author of the post that is being commented on.

Hi,
that setting is indeed enabled, is just that I don't see any comments notification in the email activities list (and I now there are severla comments being posted), but maybe they are not supposed to be there?

Thanks

Hm, to be honest I am not entirely sure as to why the user isn't receiving because looking at the codes, it would notify the user. If you want me to check on this, please edit the post and include the back end and FTP access.

Hi,
I have sent you FTP and access details to my test site (see main question private tab)

I have also created a test question here
https://accademiainfinita.it/test/forum/728-test-for-comments

for you to test comments

please notice that there is no cronjob active for the test site, but I guess you can still test by checking the "email activities" in backend

please also notice that I'll need to replicate any fix you do to my live site, so I'll need some instructions if you find a bug

Thank you

Try enable this setting on your live site from backend > Easydiscuss > setting > general > subscriptions > Include Comments - YES , system will send out the email notification to the post owner or those participant user who comment in the post.

Keep us update if this setting still not work for you.

That particular set of settings decription is:
Users who have subscribed to the site wide discussions, category or specific discussion will be listed here.

It seems to me that if I enable that, anyone that has subscribed to the whoel forum will receive notifications for any comment posted in any discussion, isnt' it?

This is no good in my opinion, as comments are often just a few words that only relate to the reply the user is commenting.

Isnt' there a way to enable email notificatons for comments that will be sent only to the user who's reply has been commented?

Thanks

The comment notifications in EasyDiscuss only notifies the owner that posted that post (be it a question or a reply). No, not everyone would receive the notifications.

Okay, try download my attached file and replace into this following file location.

JoomlaFolder/administrator/components/com_easydiscuss/tables/comment.php

And do not need to enable any setting for now, I will lock this into our issue tracker and see if we can do something about it.

Hi,
I can confirm that by enabling from backend
> Easydiscuss > setting > general > subscriptions > Include Comments - YES ,

the system will send out new comment email notifications to the reply owner but also to all the forum subscribers

I have now unchekced that setting and uploaded the file provided by Alex instead, will let you know how it goes

Thanks

I have now unchekced that setting and uploaded the file provided by Alex instead, will let you know how it goes
