I am having an issue with the notifications. I have quite a complicated system which is made up of many different user permissions. Each set of user permissions is assigned a categroy that only they can see but for some reason at time when i post to say class 1 category, people who are assigned to class 2 will get the email notification.

Then when they try and log in it gives then a 404 error because they dont have the permissions. Is there a way to control for this, why are they getting the notifications if they dont have permision to the category it is being posted into?
Hey Michael,

I am assuming that you are referring to the user receiving notifications about a blog post posted in category A while they are only subscribed to category B?

Is the user subscribed to site wide (Clicking on the subscribe link in the toolbar)? If they are subscribed to the site wide, they will receive the notification.

I think he is subscribed site wide. So if a user subscribes site wide they will get a notification whether they are able to view it or not?

Is there any way to prevent this?

Yes that is correct. There is no way currently to prevent this but perhaps you want to turn off site wide subscriptions and only allow for category subscriptions?

Hey Michael,

You can do so by accessing Settings > General > Subscriptions . Turn off the option "Site wide subscriptions"

By the way, please remember to assign your domain to your license to obtain for support in the future. You can do so by accessing your license area at http://stackideas.com/dashboard
