Can the admin of a group email all the members of the group. This was a feature present in jomsocial so was searching for the same in easysocial but couldnt find the feature.
Hello Prashant,

I am sorry but unfortunately this is not possible but I don't think it is difficult at all to achieve this. Perhaps what sort of "emails" are you looking at? Is this purely for notifying users only?

Hi Mark,

I was looking for this feature as well aside from posting a Discussion or News. But on a second thought, does News acts like a Newsletter? I have not tried it yet but if a News is posted since Joomla Editor is the default Editor so it it can formatted as HTML. Well, maybe a Group Converstation/Email feature is something handy to send Emails to All or selected Members of the Group.

Just a thought.

Thanks,

jackson

Hello Mark,

I was actually looking at sending some information or advertisement through email to the members of a group.
Perhaps as LAC Infosys pointed out the News/Announcement feature can be enhanced to send an email as well.
Just sharing my thoughts. An option for the admin to post the information as just an announcement or send the announcement as an email or do both posting & sending the announcement, for the selected list of members or all the members . It would enhance the groups announcement feature with a built in newsletter option for group admins.

While we are on the subject of group emails, a "Global Message" and a "Global E-mail" feature would be totally awesome for sending out to all users. A global message for communities trying to get a hold of active members, and a global email for communities who send out important updates regarding policy changes, TOS updates, exciting features, events to get involved in, ect. It appears even Community Builder might have this sort of feature as seen here (mass mail).

Another feature idea I been keeping a secret is the idea of a "Admin Inbox" or a "Group Inbox". The purpose is to have a centralized inbox for a staff or select group. When a user wants to message the admins, they typically don't want to go through one admin because the odds of them being online are reduced, but if they could send a message to "The Admins" then the action speed will be a lot faster considering there are more people to attend it. Plus the work is more evenly distributed. Take for example, the Stacked team doesn't have all software problems go to a single knowledgeable person, but rather it goes to the staff who carefully pick their battles of how to handle those situations and that allow a effective workflow where responses can be made fast.

So what I'm getting at here is to spread some of that effective workflow the stacked team has built up and place it into EasySocial. I'm not asking for your secret recipe. Just that management be as effective as possible. This isn't just for the admins, this is for our site users so that we can provide them with the best service we can provide.

When you post a news in the group, it actually informs everyone via the notification system or email (Depending on their notification settings) I supposed you could use this as a basis to send e-mail? Also, while we are on the email topic, I really would advise you guys to try to refrain from sending out huge amount of emails. Your hosting provider will definitely not be happy with that.

Alright. What about global PM's? Global Private Messages are on a site I work for, all global PM's can be removed a few weeks after they are sent. This way the database space is only temporarily taken up.

I am contemplating on adding this in 1.3 as an option where you can choose to allow sending pm to anyone on the site or only friends.

The global PM option is meant for only admins. As for PM's in general, I say let admins decide whether or not only friends can contact them. On my sites I want anyone to be able to contact non friends. This is how friendships start on the internet (one method anyways).

I agree with Josh Mark at least make that feature available to Admin and let Admin choose to enable it to All Users or Friends only but Site Admin should be able to have it anytime.

Thanks,

Jackson

I wasn't proposing that non admins be able to send out a mass PM. Otherwise mass spam is a serious possibility.

Thanks for the heads up on this guys. I am thinking along the lines where there's a setting at the back end for the admin to allow / disallow such behavior. If allowed, the "suggestion" would suggest everyone from the site as opposed to friends only (It would also still respect the target user's privacy though)
