I'm not sure if there is already a way to do this, or if I ought to add this to the feature requests. About 50% of the new user trouble tickets i get are from people who don't get an acitvation email because they mistyped their email address. I would really like to have an additional confirmation field on registration where they have to type in their email again and validate it against the first field that it matches. I don't see a way to write custom validation code on fields, but wanted to check before I added this to feature requests.
Hi,

Currently it is not possible but I think this is valid and I will add it in the upcoming 1.2

That would be super cool. It's such an avoidable issue, and it's annoying how much time is wasted dealing with it.

Hello Andrew Gous.

Unfortunately, current versions of Easysocial still don't have this feature yet.

Perhaps you can submit new feature requests for EasySocial at http://stackideas.com/voices/easysocial

@Izzan, I think you missed it's existence. I'm seeing it in the options as seen here:

Assuming this does what it says, no voice page is needed.

Thanks a million @Josh!... The other bit that I am looking for is email verification or validation option as I get spam registrations on our site...

BTW, @Izzan... Have not had much luck and not much faith in 'Voices' as it seems that it is not really used by SI to add or improve functionality....

cheers...

mmmm, just found that adding that did not make any difference when using the 'EasySocial Quick Registration' module.... It still only shows a single email field in the 'quick registration form'

how do I solve this?

Theoretically it should display it. Sounds like a bug if you ask me. But then again, I don't claim to be an expert with the quick registration mode (but I do have a decent idea of the concepts used).

As for voices, how you use it affects the likeliness of it being used. It certainly helps to go for things that help the greatest number of people, but also linking to it from your forum post so that it gains more visibility. Also I'm careful about my timing with making them, for example I try not to post them when I see the Stacked team has their hands full. I know the voices place doesn't feel nearly as watched over, but I do see things added in from time to time. Sometimes the items are added when we least expect them (for example the ability for users to edit a username was added months later after the request). And of course we do see at times other wonders placed in overnight. I know I have.

Thanks @Josh... Agree with you on the point that it should automatically show in 'quick reg'

Yeah, I guess you have a point with Voices, it needs to be promoted more in forum... e.g. when a item is added to Voices it should update any forum post relating to that automatically... Then users who might have a similar issue can go and vote for it... 'I guess that is a big ask' ;-) @Izzan

@Andrew, I suspect some additions to voices may occur after EB5 and ES 1.4 are released. A while back I posted a topic 7 Ideas to Encourage Us to Use Voices in which Mark himself expressed interest in the idea. For now I'm letting the important things take precedence.

Hello Andrew,

I've checked the possibilities to add the validation or verification email in mini registration from the code and unfortunately it is not possible out of the box

By the way adding email validation during mini registration could actually defeat the purpose of the simplified registration process that mini registration has offered. Don't you think?

@Ezrul.... Actually no... I don't agree... At the end of the day it is safer, and less prone then to spam attack....

This would only add a second email field to the 'quick registration' that is not too much...

I actually also mean an activation email be sent out to new users before their account is active. Can I enable this somewhere?

Yay! I've been waiting for this, I missed it in whatever release it was added. Will reduce the trouble tickets from new users by a LOT!

I agree, it should be in the mini reg. Good work!

Hello Guys,

I will forwarded this to our developers and see what they can do about it. Thank you for your kind feedback

@Andrew, You can find the setting from your backend > easysocial > profile types > [your default profile] > registration > registration type to "require user activation" and enable "Send registration email to user", http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-05-13_1124.png
