Currently, the URL for my user profiles looks something like: /component/easysocial/profile/134-philip.w@yahoo-com?Itemid=. I definitely do not want the user's email address in the URL. Suggestions?
Update: JReviews has made a code modification on their end to display ID-REALNAME when the email address is set to be the username in ES.

Hello Philip,

I have tried to access your site with the provided login credentials but unfortunately that does not work Can you please help? Also, I would need the FTP access to the site as well.

Hi,

If you are using the feature of "Use Email as Username" in EasySocial, then this is the default behaviour.

To remedy this, add a permalink field in to the profile and set it to required so that user will have to fill in the permalink field in order to generate a different permalink for their profile.

Thanks for the reply, Jason.

I'd hate to require the user to fill-out an additional, unique field just for the sake of creating a profile URL. Is there anyway to remove the email address from the URL? -- the URL would still be unique seeing it utilizes the userID. I might also suggest that something like this be the default behavior for ES --- I can't imagine a situation where anyone would want to expose their users' email addresses. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

Hello Philip,

Hm, not too sure if I am following you here because right now, it looks like your settings is configured to use the "Real name" for the URL format instead of the username as you can see from my screen shot here, http://screencast.com/t/m6VdT6yWOL .

This also means that all the url links will be in the form of ID-real-name. I tried viewing the list of your users at http://indigojoomla.com/racenav/community/users and they don't seem to be using emails any longer.

Am I missing anything here?

Hey Mark -- sorry for the confusion. I used to use the username field as my primary login field [when using Community Builder], but now that I've switched to ES, I prefer using the email address... so that's why you'll see legacy accounts that don't have an email address as their username.

Here's how I'm seeing the email address in the profile URL:
1) Go here: http://www.indigojoomla.com/racenav/component/content/article/16-races/marathons/78-chicago-marathon
2) Click on the first review -- it's by user "RBH".

You'll see that the URL for her profile is ID-email-address. As you stated above, it would be nice if the URL would be ID-real-name (in this case it would be 134-RBH).

Hello Philip,

Hm, this is odd because the URL for RBH should actually be http://www.indigojoomla.com/racenav/community/profile/rbh as you can see here, http://www.indigojoomla.com/racenav/community/users . That link seems to be generated by JReviews. Could it be that JReviews is caching it or for some reason thinks that it is still using the CB profile?

Hey Mark.

I just submitted the issue to the JR support team. We'll see if they can shed some light.

Thanks Philip, I find it odd too because the URL generated from EasySocial is not the same as JReviews. Perhaps if Alejandro needs some insights, let me know. I could get in touch with him on Skype
