Hm, there's really nothing that we can do right now because the editor itself requires a larger width area. The only way is to actually expand the entire column so that it covers more area.

Ok any tips how to do this? Is there a css I can make there?

Perhaps you can try adjust the editor layout from backend > JCE > editor profile > Features & Layout > editor layout > screenshot : http://screencast.com/t/eXVUR4wg or re-structure again with the columns button and see how it goes?

If this not really help, I think you should ask JCE-editor developers regarding this editor layout responsive issue.
