Edit code of app upcoming Birthday

Hi,
I use the Upcoming Birthday app to show the Birthday of my users.
Here I want to change the layout (and maybe a functionality).
Where is the code of the applications (this application) stored? I can't find it (or identify it) in /themes/wireframe/apps correctly
Is there a documentation how to write own app?
