Hi,
i created a menu item with COMPOSE Layout.
There i could define a category. (see pic-1)

Now i´m going to this menuentry on my frontpage write a blog (see pic-2).

All seems fine. In the box on the right where categories are the right category was defined like i expected.

But on the upper left site the category was "uncategorized".( see pic-3). i dont select "D1"

i wrote my text and saved it.

i took a look to easyblog posts´(pending) (see pic-4).

You see that the category "uncategorized" is saved, not "D1"

I think, when i preselect via menuentry a category, then this predefined category should be taken and saved for the post. (normal joomla articles work well with this)

With this possibility i can better control that my users are writing in the right category.

Or is there an other way to do my work?
Hey Otmar,

Good catch! It looks like there's a bug here. Download the attached file and upload it into /administrator/components/com_easyblog/includes/composer/

Let me know if this works for you.

Hi Mark, sorry for the delay of answer.
I tried now. It works!
So as i expected. But one thing can be going wrong.

An author can change to all categories and can make a selection to all categories to which he are assigned.

Please take a look at the picture. I select all categories assigned to my article.

In that case where i want to assign an author to only one categorie like "D1" no other category should be selectable in the middel right select box. because it prevent my authors to write in the wrong categorie.

i can unterstand, that when i am writing an article i should have an option to publish this article to more than one category at the same time. But in this special use case it is unwanted.

But i think it is ok for me when it works like now (with your changed composer.php). In this case i wil introduce my authors to do nothing else with categories at the left side.

Thank you very much for your fast answers at all time i have a question.

Otmar

Hello friends,
I would like to continue writing on this thread now that it seems I am having the same issue as the above poster.
I have created a menu and specifically designated it to a particular category on my website- category (test 1) for example. When the user goes to the composer, category (test 1) shows up selected as the primary and default category, which is perfect, up to this point.
However the user then has the option to continue selecting “check marking” OTHER categories in addition to category (test 1), which is not what I want.
The entire reason behind creating a menu with a designated category was so it would be default selected when the author goes to write and so they cannot select ANY OTHER category while they were there.
If I wanted the writer to pick whatever number of categories all at once I would leave only one general menu where nothing is selected by default, and not a specific menu for each category like I have created. Is there any way you can help me with my issue?
To repeat- I want my designated menu to only be allowed to select ONE category (the category it is assigned to) and prohibit the user from selecting any other one while using that menu.
Thanks so much in advance!

Hi Miguel,
It is not possible to limit the number of categories a user can select currently. Perhaps you can vote on this feature request in our voice page. If many users vote on this, we will consider implementing this in a future version.

Alternatively, if you want to specify which category/s a user can select during a blog post creation, you can assign the related category permission/s to the desired user group/s. That way they will not have the option to select categories not authorized to the group/s.

P.S: In the future, it would be best if you can create a new threads for any issues and link another thread to your thread for reference instead of bumping old threads. This makes it easier for our moderators to manage these threads. Thanks for understanding.
