I'm having some issues trying to get features on EasyBlog 5 working. These are features I had before the upgrade to 5 and I can't seem to get them back.

1. What is the best way to customize the Front Page feature slider? My customers don't like the default look, but I am not seeing any options for change.
2. How do I enable RSS subscriptions? They aren't showing up anywhere unless I make a subscription module. Before these used to appear at the top of the page.
3. Comments wont show up. I have them enabled from 'Settings->Comments' but they don't show up. Before the update they worked just fine.
4. Can captions be enabled on the cover image for the full post view? I really like that it uses the same image, but a very common request is to have a caption for each image. I can enter a comment through the media manager, but it doesn't appear anywhere.

Thank you.
Hi,

Please find below answers to your questions.

1. What is the best way to customize the Front Page feature slider? My customers don't like the default look, but I am not seeing any options for change.

Currently there are no available options to change the default look of frontpage featured slider. If you want to customize the behavior of the slider, you can take a look at these two file, /components/com_easyblog/themes/wireframe/blogs/latest/featured.php and /components/com_easyblog/themes/wireframe/blogs/latest/featured.js and modify it from there.

2. How do I enable RSS subscriptions? They aren't showing up anywhere unless I make a subscription module. Before these used to appear at the top of the page.

The rss button is now located at the toolbar of the site as you can see from my screenshot here, http://screencast.com/t/nacJpDCtsB

3. Comments wont show up. I have them enabled from 'Settings->Comments' but they don't show up. Before the update they worked just fine.

Regarding the above, can you check if the setting ‘Built-in comments’ is enabled from EasyBlog backend under Settings -> Comments -> Integration? If this option was disabled, you will need to re-enable the built in comment, http://screencast.com/t/827zzvRU7Qi .

If the problem still persist can you checked whether specific user group has the ability to comment on your blog post as you can see from your backend > easyblog > ACL > your user group > comment, http://screencast.com/t/jRXvACNw6Q5V ? If both of the options above is set to yes and the problem still persist can you provide us with your Joomla backend and FTP access so we can check on the issue directly?

4. Can captions be enabled on the cover image for the full post view? I really like that it uses the same image, but a very common request is to have a caption for each image. I can enter a comment through the media manager, but it doesn't appear anywhere.

Unfortunately it is not possible to do so with the current system of easyblog.

Thanks for the reply, it has been helpful.

1. This is unfortunate, I'll look into customizing this myself. The best way to do this would be with template over-rides correct? Modifying the files directly would mean the possibility of losing code after we update I believe.

2. Ah, I was hoping not to use the toolbar at all. Trying to gear my blog towards non-registered users. I'll make due with the module for now.

3. This fixed the issue, thanks!

4. Ok

Another question...

5. Is it possible to remove the comment author avatar image? I'm not seeing any settings for changing the EasyBlog comment block.

One more question,

6. How can I change the look of the related posts that appear under an article? I'm not seeing any options to do this. I also tried to change the number of related posts from 5 to 3, but the change isn't taking effect. I changed this from Settings -> Layout -> Post Options. I am missing something? Thanks.

Hello,

1. Yes, the best way is to user template override.

5. I'm sorry but there is no setting to remove the avatar. However, you can replace the attached file (default.item.php) in ../components/com_easyblog/themes/wireframe/comments/default.item.php.

6. Can you provide us your backend and FTP access so we can have a better look on your issue here? I've tested in my local, the setting works for me here.

Are there any plans in the NEAR future to add image captions to the cover image. I am actually shocked this isn't possible now.

Here's something strange, if I click on the cover image, the image pops up in a light-box and a caption shows up underneath the image. Where is that coming from?

Also, there is CSS associated with the caption, this is confusing:

<div class="eb-image-caption"><span style="display: block;">Image Caption Text Here</span></div>

Please help,
John

Ok, so I discovered that it's using the Article Title as the image caption. It really doesn't make sense to have the article title as the image caption.

This is a pretty basic feature that should be available out of the box. What would it cost to get this implemented asap?

This is something we really need as an industry based website sharing corporate news.

Honestly, if I knew there were no image captions we wouldn't have used EasyBlog. Is there a way to export all easy blog articles back to Joomla articles?

Hello,

Unfortunately it is not possible to set the title of the cover image currently. This is something that we intend to add in the next release of EasyBlog.
