Hi,

After updating EasyBlog it is no longer publically available to view.

I would like to restore it to public view with posts viewable by all users.

This notice appears:

"Authentication required. This is a password protected blog, please kindly enter the password into the password field below to view the blog." Not very inviting to the public for my purposes.

I need anyone to be able to read (only) the blog without having to log in. Additional priviliges to logged in users as usual.

How do I set EasyBlog for public view?

I can not find User can view articles (or equivalent in ACL for Public in EasyBlog settings.

Regards,
Nev
Hey Nev,

This is actually not related to the privacy. You are getting this most likely because when you created / edited the blog post, one of your password plugin in the browser is auto populating the password field. Just edit the post and remove the password and you are good to go

Hi Mark,

Thanks for your reply.

I'm not sure what you mean by "remove the password".
It is showing identical symptoms on all browsers and I don't seem to be able to change it back as a generic setting.

I need all blog entries by any authorised user to be public across the board without having to interfere each time.

I think I need more help.

Will be appreciated.

Regards,
Nev

Hey nev,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply,

What my colleague meaning is edit those posts which showing "Authentication required. This is a password protected blog, please kindly enter the password into the password field below to view the blog." then remove all the password from the `Password Protection` field (screenshot : http://screencast.com/t/BPpRnyCXobvb ) > save.

After that you removed all the password from that field, you have to disable this password protection feature from backend > Easyblog > settings > general > password protection - NO (screenshot : http://screencast.com/t/fFezZFfw0ku ).

So all of your site user no need to do this step in their browser. (Because this is those browser auto fill in password feature.)
Example : Chrome browser
---------------------------------------------
In the upper right corner of the browser window, click the Chrome menu .
Click Settings > Show advanced settings.
Under "Passwords and forms," uncheck Enable Autofill to fill out web forms in a single click. To turn Autofill back on, simply check the box again.

Hope this help.

Im havin the same problem, just migrated from 3.9 to 5.0.34.
Now all post are restricted. Always ask to login to view post.
The post is not password protected, in fact i dont have this field.
In the DB the database, the "blogpassword" field is empty.
I dont know if the migration altered access levels, or maybe its a configuration issue.
Thanks!

Hi Martin,

Can you check the settings from your backend > easyblog > settings > general > "Login to Read Full Post" set to "No" and see how it goes? http://screencast.com/t/TWbwXxuD

Oh, man! How dumb i am!
Yesterday ive spent all morning with this, checked all possible options and settings 3 or 4 times...
The answer was on the first setting page!!!
On my defence, i will say that spanish translation is 100% complete, but awfully translated, like if google translated without checking. Can i use english on the BE, and spanish on the FE?
Thanks Ezrul!

Hi Martin,

Yes you can. You can set which default language that you want to use specifically on the frontend or backend by going to your backend > extension manager > language, and set the desired language for your backend or frontend, http://screencast.com/t/IURocallS .

You can also select the language during first login to your backend as you can see from my example screenshot here, http://screencast.com/t/vfacr7Fm2 .

Hope these help.

Thanks!
Yes, i know how to choose language for whole BE, just want to bypass the crappy spanish translation for EB on BE. All other BE translations are fine.
I think i will copy the english translation file to the spanish folder and rename it to have english for EB on BE

Hi Martin,

Ah I see. Unfortunately it is not possible to achieve this via quick settings but you can try the method that you suggested above and see how it turns out.

Nevertheless glad to hear that your issue has been resolved now.
