Hi,

I am testing the video upload in easysocial and getting a file upload size error saying the max 8M has been exceeded. My php.in is set much greater than this so I am not sure it isn't uploading. My test file is 20M.

I have the correct path to FFMPG and it is installed.

Secondly, does the upload compress the videos like in Easyblog?

Finally, with videos that are uploaded, is it possible to get an embed code? In the same way we can for youtube videos?

Kind regards

Mel
Hello Mel,

It's most likely that the video size in the ACL for the profile type is set to 8mb. You can change this under Profile Types > Click on your profile type > ACL tab > Videos.

By the way, EasyBlog doesn't compress videos but EasySocial does if you set the path to the FFMpeg library correctly.

Hi Mark,

thank you!

I am loving EasySocial it just keeps on getting better! It was exactly as you said, the settings in ACL.

Is it possible to get embed code for EasySocial videos in the same way we do other videos? I did try jst pasting the URL but that doesn't work when it asks for an embed code.

Thank you for your kind compliments Mel, appreciate this very much. Unfortunately right now the videos does not support embed codes but it's definitely something that we want to try in the near future, I like the idea of sharing videos and bookmark scripts to other sites as those are huge value for site owners

Hi Mark,

yes the video sharing using embed codes (and other options) would be brilliant for us, as most of our videos will be uploaded. I wonder if there is a way around this for now, a plugin or something. I will go research.

Many thanks

Hi Mark,

yes I can see there is no way of achieving it without the easysocial videos having an embed code. I tried some of the embed code converters but they don't like the url to the video.

I am basically trying to embed videos inside another component on my site, and ideally from easysocial videos.

When you say near future, is that weeks/months?

Hi Mel and Mark,

Thought I chime in; as I was looking for something similar to Mel.

I have attached a few steps to illustrate what I was able to discover and wanted to make sure there wasn't something I was missing. Perhaps, there is a workaround or something coming shortly.

To interject, I have hwdmediashare and although it doesn't play completely nice with Easysocial it does offer a semi-solution. In EasySocial when someone uploads a video, we are not able to share this in a way that would look both appealing and enticing in some of the social networks, like Facebook.

When I tested it, it just showed MCity Community and a link there (attached).

Yes, if I upload a video within hwdmediashare (backend or frontend), I am able to get an embedded code that will show the video on Facebook.

Is there a better solution in order for someone to upload video/image within EasySocial that then could be shared in other social platforms that would show the video and some meta tagging?

Hello Ulysses,

Is the video item accessible by the public? Most of the time when you get a blank share result, it is most likely because the page is not accessible by Facebook's spider (robots)

Oh Mark, if I haven't told you before.... I LOVE it when you & your team are so right

The reason it wasn't posting the video was that it wasn't set to share "everyone".
Once I tested another video on this test page, I noticed the social sharing went smoothly.

What I can see and maybe this is where Mel was talking about, not entirely certain. The description didn't transfer over to Facebook. Instead, it simply stated "Penelope uploaded a new video"; instead of "On boat in Krabi, Thailand". Any chance descriptions or anything written on post would eventually transfer over to the other social sites, like Facebook?

When you click the social share to Facebook it directs users to:

Thanks for updating me on this. To be honest, I think the title is correct because you are actually sharing the action that was performed instead of just sharing a video.

The reason that the stream was generated was because "Penelope uploaded a new video". If you are sharing a video from a video page, then certainly the title of the page should be the title of the video.

Hey abiodun,

I am sorry for the delayed of this reply, can you start a new thread on our forums regarding your current issue and provide us a step on how to reproduce the embed video issue so we can investigate this issue on your site directly?

Just for your information, I have locked and marked this thread as resolved to avoid confusion in the future.

Thanks for understanding.
