Currently you have to do following few step,
1. Go to backend > component > smart seach
2. Click 'clear index' > click 'index' button

So it will re-index again all of your current group which existing.

By the way, may i know how to you delete your group?

i deleted it with the admin account

thanks, i see blog is now showing in the search, but easydiscuss still isnt showing

You have to install smart search plugin for Easydiscuss.

Try download my attached file and install through in your backend Joomla installer.

Then enable this plugin from backend plugin manager.

Finally, click 'index' button from backend > component > smart search

ok great that worked. How would i get rid of the Tag option thats in there..as of now i have "people, discussion, tag & category" and i only want people, blog, discussion group and event

EasyDiscuss>Settings>Layout>Toolbar>

Unfortunately, some of the options that you want isn't possible at the moment
